It's great that one of the biggest black female artist is being pro black, pro woman and raising awareness to police brutality and social injustice against black. I never been a fan but if she can reach some young minds cool.




At the same time for me it comes off as disingenuous and opportunistic. 15 years in the industry not a hint of pro blackness, or speaking on race issues, social injustice. Not speaking on the plight of the black women. Wasn't it just "BOW DOWN bytchES" a year ago. It wasn't black girls who run the world it was just "girls". It was blonde weaves and being a great trophy wife with a smile at functions. It's more than 3 years since Trayvon and now you want to hop on this wave?

I can vibe with that but Trayvon isn't the last major event to happen and even back then she was pretty vocal...and has been for a minute now

Also, considering the lyrics in this song, and the potential backlash she had to know would come of it (and has come) I think she was smart to wait until her power was at point where releasing a song and a video like this cannot affect her paper, will rile White America up and force them to expose themselves, and empower her even more as a black female and black artist.

Basically it's whatever but it's not a bad thing that she did this

Beyonce tours very well. She's a great entertainer and she has massive cultural appeal. And that's why it's a bit surprising that her billboard numbers usually don't back that up.

I think that's her main appeal. The music itself doesn't showcase her greatest strength which is her live show. Personally, I don't find a lot of her music to be all that appealing. She can sing, but the songs themselves leave much to be desired for the most part IMO.

I'm talking worldwide. Of course 20/20 Experience outsold Beyonce in 2013 because it was out a full 9 months before Beyonce dropped. Beyonce's last album sold 5 million copies worldwide.

That's not moving goal posts. Beyonce did outsell all of the people that I stated she'd outsold. She sold 5 million records and 2.3 million of that was sold in the last 19 days of 2013. Only Adele, One Direction and Taylor Swift have sold more worldwide.

Compare a boy band and a young white woman to a 35 year old black woman brehs. Where's one directions writings on the wall or survivor album if we comparing sales of group? Destiny child had two albums over 10 million worldwide. Adele will kill for beyonce's longevity. She hot right now. But Beyoncé been out since Britney Spears who was bigger than Adele(no pun intended) and a bunch of artists who were selling millions more than today's acts so why should Beyoncé be tripping on Adele or Katy perry?

so despite Beyonce's low album sales (which they are LOW), she is just as important BUSINESS WISE to the music industry as Adele.

with that said, I'm simply pointing out that it's fundamentally flawed to argue that an artist who has no significant sales records, no "rhythm nation" type of memorable/classic album under her belt, hasn't towered over her competition in any significant way, is the GREATEST artist of her era. period.

You referenced all three albums and uplifted Adele who hasn't been In the industry 10 years yet so ninja please about all time. Beyoncé is the biggest African american woman in music right now and the biggest AA musician period. The longevity speaks for itself to if we have to use Adele and Katy perry, 2 artists who came out after 3 Beyoncé albums and all 6 DC albums, as reference. There's no entertainer like her right now in the modern generation. 140 million sold
60 million with DC
500 million touring
300+ awards
Can still sell 3 million on any give release while her peers can't sell 2 million

You were saying that nobody was buying her albums, which is false. You then used Twitter followers to substantiate the argument that her sales are low in comparison to her star power. You didn't apply the same logic to the artists you were comparing her to.

here's what kills me...you type this, acting like Beyonce has sold 500K in a day (someone has), 3 million albums in a weekend (someone has), a diamond album (someone has), had a 30 million selling debut album (someone did)

all of this since 2000 - even though you don't like it, quit acting like I'm just making shyt up.

another thing nobody is pointing out is that Katy Perry, Adele, Taylor Swift all have music videos with over 1 billion views (the video, not ALL videos combined). Beyonce's most viewed video is 450 million. I work in digital marketing; this is huge. this is web traffic. the ability for ANYBODY to generate that type of traffic for advertising is the heartbeat of what we do...this isn't the 90's or even the 00's anymore..this matters <<< now spin that.
