Beyonce has become insanely overrated

Great performer, I give you that. However my opinions are based strictly on the quality of the music. From this immature "Girls run the world" and "I been on/bytches Bow Down" type of stuff I don't see how the hype is justified. She does definitely have some gems in her catalogue, though. The talent and potential is there, I just wish the music would mature a bit.

Bey has made just as many quality tracks as "trash", girls run the world was an abberation to everything else on 4, and even then the song was just bad, it wasnt on no hoodrat shyt, it was spice girls reincarnated. but trash sells, she's doing nothing more vile than these Molly poppin, lean sippin, stripper loving rappers that continue to get bigged up. Dudes really mad cuz she makes a song like irreplaceable? Stop it. And she sounds great live, I can't front on that. Shes not a whitney or mariah - how many are, but she has a quality voice. And I'm only a fan of dangerously in love/4 bey so don't try to place me as one of her stans.

What I can agree on is that since Bey doesn't have the leeway to be purely R&B or take musical risks like Madonna and Janet, she has yet to release a front to back classic, none of her music has changed the game and none of it has the nostalgia factor that other top Pop/R&B have been able to achieve.

Populist statement songs are rarely ever interesting beyond the reactions they evoke. Pop music can't really shock in the way that other artists have used it to over the years and I won't pretend that those are good songs. They're not. (Run The World is actively awful)

But I think she has maintained some sense of balance. Artistically she hasn't lived up to her potential but I think that's more down to the creators she's surrounded herself with than any intrinsic fault of hers.

Madonna is the Queen of pop and had shocked people time and time again, in addition to fathering a whole hoard of singers whose whole career is a clear ode to her.

MJB dances a little, but is nowhere near the level of Bey and doesnt sing quite as well.

i rather bust out mary's first 4 albums then listen to beyonce's first 4, and the singing is real and natural.

What's the 411 remix album smashes any and ALL beyonce albums.

Its like comparing an Etta James to a Diana Ross.
One is a soulful singer, and the other is a performer wit lots of money to burn on touring and promotions who married a rapper who built an empire on stolen lines and bakkstabbing.

She receives praise for being a full on entertainer and capturing the attention of audiences from 10-82. I don't ever hear people praise her actual songs (ok, well there are simpletons who think her basic shyt is dope), but they do praise her showmanship and vocals, which IMO is deserved. Like others said, she may be overexposed, but she's good at what she does and aside from Pink, is one of the few top billing acts that has the whole package.

And trust, I'm not defensive, I don't ride with Bey like that, but I can be objective enough to know that she (and her people) worked hard to perfect her craft, she does a good job at it, and that's about it. I've already explained why I don't feel she'll ever make a classic album and era defining music, but honestly, we don't have many singers doing that, Adele's 21 being the most recent album that I think will live on 10 years from now.

That's like saying how can you compare a WR who's been playing football since they were 8 to someone who started in college, no one gives a fukk how or when you started, ability is ability when you step on that stage. And MJB's voice wasn't the best on what's the 411 nor my life, she doesn't have traditionally strong vocals the way bey does, but it doesn't matter in her case, cuz that nasal, expressive singing is what makes her music shine.
