Biden had known he had the power to cancel $50,000 in student debt since April.

just pay your debts brehs and brehettes

The key when paying back student loans and credit cards is try to never ever ever pay back the minimum every month. You will never pay off your loans. Because when you paying the minimum you only paying off some or all of the interest. You must attack the principle not the interest.

Why you think the student loan folks always happy to give a deferment? Because the interest continues to add up which means it takes longer to pay off the loan.

Yep people can't distinguish between a want and a need.

Hell I think I deserve a lambo. But I ain't trying to pay 2k a month in car notes, plus insurance and paranoid every time the car needs maintenance cause the hill gonna be through the roof.

Real talk many of these folks who are single and have no kids that have good jobs can pay off their loans in a few years. All they got to do is cut cost and get some room mates. shyt in 3 years they could have their loans paid off and have a huge down payment on a home.

But that materialism kills them every time. I talk about on here how my homie in his 30s and his momma pays his student loans. Dude got a brand new car, makes good money, got an apartment down town and got females he spends money on.

But his momma paying 200 a month on a parent plus loan she took out to send him to college. I am like dude your momma in her 60s. Why is your momma paying on a loan and your ass makes more than her and you young, but she paying the loan?

Breh your homie is a pure fukk boy for that one is mom shouldn’t be paying that at all. He’d foul for that.

The reward is a lifetime of higher pay and overall better quality of life, not a BMW. People think they should reward themselves with a 50k car loan after graduating with 100k in student loans then wonder why they’re broke.

Don’t forget about the 500k mortgage because they “deserve” a house fitting for a person with a graduate degree. The entitlement Americans have is disgusting. Being able to goto college at all is a reward in itself.
You’re creating a bunch of false scenarios using right wing talking points that can easily be dispelled. I would suggest you head to the student loan forgiveness thread in HL. This person you’re talking about barely exists. The average black person with student loan debt is one of the first people in their family to go to college and had to take out more debt because they had no support. College has not closed the wealth gap between black and white people specifically because blacks people have much more debt on average. Now we know a white person with a high school diploma is more employed than a black man with a college degree - so what do you suggest those people do? Even if you go the community college route you will have loan debt. The bigger issue that you seem to ignore is that American decided that public education mattered and that k-12 should be mandatory and publicly financed. It is just a random quirk that we decided that public universities should not be the same. And the idea that a 18 year old is doing that sort of cost benefit analysis is bull shyt.

the issue is people literally can’t pay the debt. the cost of living is too high and the interest rates on the loans are absurd.

It took her that long to figure out she wasn’t making a dent in the loan? Put the lattes and semi-annual European travel down and get your loans paid.

the reason why we cant have an honest convo is because folks always talk about the debt they ran up but never what degree they ran the debt up on. I have no remorse for these folks.

That is not why and you don't know what you're talking about.
Used car prices rose because new car prices are higher and less available due to the chip shortage and supply chain issues so it drove up the demand for used cars.
Inflation is high because the fed has been injecting money into the economy since the pandemic began to keep it afloat.
You literally typed all of that only to repeat every point I made. Idk why reading is no longer fundamental :snoop:

What does politics have do with peoples spending habits?

Also, nobody in this thread specified black vs white when it comes to student loans yet you made a whole tldr post about student loans and race. You want to be right so bad that youre arguing with yourself.

I could debunk your entire post but you didn’t make a single valid point worth arguing against.

She’s literally talking about only paying 2k off the principal in 11 years - and probably still paying the minimum. Not willing to sacrifice lifestyle to get the loan paid. Now want us to help her out so she can rise through the ranks and not hire minorities.

yeah I have no remorse. If you went to college for your 'passion' that aint my problem. Those of us who assed what fields are in demand and choose accordingly aren't crying about this stuff. Not a surprise most of the weirdest degrees require the most money lol.

Bruh I didn’t exactly what you said. I lived in a basement with 4 other people and I paid $620 a month in rent. I absolutely hated it but I was determined to get out of debt the fastest way possible.
The key when paying back student loans and credit cards is try to never ever ever pay back the minimum every month. You will never pay off your loans. Because when you paying the minimum you only paying off some or all of the interest. You must attack the principle not the interest.

Exactly! people like the girl in the Twitter post won’t talk about that though. She most likely kept deferring her loan and only paying the minimum like everybody else does. She graduated in 2008. Let’s say it took her 2 years to find a job and didn’t pay on her loan until then. She had 11 years to pay off 70k plus interest. If she would have made an extra payment and put down just $500/month on the principle every month she would be out of debt right now.

She only had to pay $6363 a year on the principle. A quick google search says the average graduate level degree salary is $70k. So how in the world do you still owe the original principle balance?

So then pay what you owe. Takes sacrifice. If you agreed to a loan, it’s your responsibility to pay it back. Not anyone else’s. You took out loans you can’t pay and everyone else is the stupid one? :heh:

I went to community college for nursing school and worked overnight. I graduated with no debt. I used my nursing income to save some money to go to physician assistant school. After I graduated I rented room in a basement to pay off my debt from PA school. Anybody could do what I did.

The system is flawed but the people advocating for student loan forgiveness aren’t advocating changing the flawed system. They just want their own loans forgiven. That’s what’s selfish because they could care less about the current 18 years that are going to make the same mistake.

People make strings of bad choices and then don’t want to own it, instead want to be given a re-do without giving up anything. And have the nerve to call others stupid :dead:
