Biden had known he had the power to cancel $50,000 in student debt since April.

So then pay what you owe. Takes sacrifice. If you agreed to a loan, it’s your responsibility to pay it back. Not anyone else’s. You took out loans you can’t pay and everyone else is the stupid one? :heh:
yes yall are stupid. its crippling a generation of people and yall sitting here saying “just pay it off” if it was possible it would have been done. economist wouldnt be saying student loans should be wiped cus it would be better for the economy. the interest is insurmountable coupled with this ridiculous high cost of living how the hell are you suppose to make ends meet and pay the loan back? living frugal not going to help unless you live with your parents and dont have to pay for anything but your debts.

yall have an unrealistic outlook on how things are vs the reality of things.

I went to community college for nursing school and worked overnight. I graduated with no debt. I used my nursing income to save some money to go to physician assistant school. After I graduated I rented room in a basement to pay off my debt from PA school. Anybody could do what I did.

The system is flawed but the people advocating for student loan forgiveness aren’t advocating changing the flawed system. They just want their own loans forgiven. That’s what’s selfish because they could care less about the current 18 years that are going to make the same mistake.

not everyone can do what you did cus if they could it would have been done. programs have a capacity and depending on the program after 2 years you will need to go to a university where you will still get debt. i couldnt finish a computer science degree at pulaski tech. i would have to transfer to UALR, UofA, or ASU. not everyone wants to be a nurse and can take your route. if you want to be a lawyer you have to get that debt. if you want to be an engineer you have to get that debt. if you wanna be an electrician you can do hvac at a community college and be fine. peoples quality of life includes their career path and telling someone to pick a career path that would lower their quality of life leading to them being miserable for the rest of their loves is asinine. there are developed countries that do not have that problem. and that problem should not exist.

and nikka im a revolutionary and want all this shyt burnt and replaced. UBI free college i want all that shyt for everybody. and we can afford to do it cus we just wasted trillions for a pointless war.

People acting like they were forced at gunpoint to take out these loans
they are either be poor and lower class stressed barely making it or use whats there for upward mobility. not everyone wants to do hvac or be a fukking welder. you can’t make it far without that higher education to bypass the class filter and get a better life in this capitalistic society. you have to go this route depending on what you want to do in life. how do you dumbasses not see this?

Breh, get a roommate or two for a few years and crush that loan down. A lot of people think once they graduate shyt is sweet. Nah, you gotta grind if you got that monster loan. Work a part time on top of the full-time, sacrifice on living conditions, get a roommate, get an older used car. Cut the vacations and nights out on the town down to a minimum. It’s the same basic shyt everyone with a loan has to do. You ain’t free to do as you please if you owe somebody money.

That said, I hope they forgive some of that money because college should be free anyway.

system needs to be adjusted for sure but let’s stop acting like a lot of loan holders don’t make shyt harder on themselves

Bullshytting in school spending too much time partying so they’re in school longer than they’re supposed to be and need more loans

Taking out more loans than what they need and spending the shyt on stuff that has nothing to do with food, housing or school

Paying the bare minimum on their loans while buying a bunch of shyt they don’t need

If you don’t qualify for income based repayment then you prolly make enough money to pay more than the bare minimum, you just don’t want to

There are people in the HL thread making top 5 percentile salaries complaining about paying :russ:

I wonder what percentage of people who feel like they were wronged by the system would be willing to forfeit their degree and all the opportunities that came with it if all their debt was wiped away

and for the record, 45 percent of black student loan holders pay less than $150 a month in student loans. Wiping that is not changing their lives

I think I might have a solution that everyone can agree with that helps all students and non students, past, present, and future. Student loan interest should be cut down to around inflation levels while you have a job (and not this year's inflation). People that paid their loans off already should get a tax rebate or deduction for a set number of years until they receive the difference of what they paid in extra interest Those with hardships should have their interest rates set to zero until their situation improves. Hell, if possible, let's set the interest to zero from the jump.

Anybody could do what I did it’s that the road I took isn’t fun or social media worthy. I finished my bachelors at a four year school. Lawyers, engineers, computer science etc can all do their general education requirements at a community college then transfer to complete their degree. Most community colleges also have transfer agreements with the state university which allows for lower tuition and guaranteed admission.

I had debt when I graduated from both my bachelors and graduate school. The difference is I didn’t feel entitled to luxury consumer goods like most people. I paid my debt off instead of deferring the payments.

I also advocate for UBI and free community college which I think will be implemented in the near future. Especially as automation takes a lot of jobs.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
They want to flip the monopoly board over and start the game over but keep the properties that they purchased. I’m disgusted at the lack of accountability, maybe the government should forgive my FHA loan for my first home. I bought it when I was 24 and I was too young to realize how much I pay for the house on a 30 year mortgage.

A college degree can’t appreciate.

you can’t sell your college degree for a profit

you can’t rent your college degree to pay off a portion or all of your monthly payment.
