You sound kinda senile, man

How is it the governments fault that X-corp decided to hored money, or do stock buy backs, or give crazy bonuses to the CEO over increasing wages or lowering the costs to consumers?

That's a private business decision.

Just like it's a private decision when X-Corp passes along the increase in production costs to the consumer.

Profit is the motive.
Improper taxation.

No matter what the taxation is, businesses will try to avoid paying them or pass the cost along to the consumer.

Profit is the motive.

I feel like you're being unrealistic in your expectations of business.
Proper taxation and effective redistribution is the answer.
The reality that people will try to break the law, isnt an excuse to not have it/implement it... and the effectiveness of it depends on how its written and enforced.:yeshrug:
I expect businesses to make money... thats it. I expect gov to effectively redistribute a portion of those profits.

We may be denying more people but that doesn't necessarily mean we're admitting less people. The applicant pool is endless
Population growth. If we've had the same amount of visa recipients since 2015 but we have more people....

You know what, nevermind. :mjlol:

500k immigrants isn't the reason why hundreds of millions of Americans aren't seeing wage increases.

Yeah its been fun relying on our great off-shoring friend China to provide all of our essential PPE equipment during a worldwide pandemic. :hhh:

Off-shoring has far more impact than the bottom line of some tax-evading multi-conglomerate. :hubie:

I expressed my thoughts on this in the TLR election thread.

shyt is insane and Biden is a fukking idiot for this crap. Especially, during a pandemic, and job scarcity is an issue. Will just copy and paste my post over there.

I'm an engineer. We are dealing with COVID and job scarcity. What sense does it make to expand h1b visas, a direct threat to my industry, while Americans are finding it hard to find work? This is insane and yeah has me thinking about my vote. Again if it wasn't for COVID I would not vote for this man.

H1b as Biden proposes and what is backed by big tech and corporations is the epitome of cloaking antiworker and anti-leftist beliefs in woke "diversity" language. This isn't a slam on diversity but a slam on policies that hurt people who need jobs with black folks being at the front of this list under the guise of "progressive" racial rhetoric by bringing in Indians to work at a lower salary.

I'll let my boy Sanders explain the real leftist perspective on this.

This policy is extremely pro-business and neoliberal bs.

Just going back to normal :russell:

That is the problem. Here is what used to be the normal btw...

Tl;DR they outright set up a system to reject American workers because they needed to prove to government overseers they TRIED to hire Americans but they purposely sabotage the process to reject Americans to hire H1Bs.

I'd love for someone to explain the logic in upping outsourcing and foreign worker hires when we are at a time that companies are more likely to be running on slim margins with employment and there maybe even more of a supply of workers than normal and people are losing their jobs and desperately need employment more than ever. Make this make sense to me outside of it being shameless pandering to the Indian community, just a small segment of it btw who may care that their family who are not citizens can come over and work, and big business?

BTW, companies lie all the time that the talent isn't there. Its bullshyt. As shown in the videos I posted above. They don't want to hire Americans because usually, it requires they provide certain protections and they can't work these people to complete madness under the threat of green card revocation.

With H1B's they tell them you better work this weekend or you may be terminated. You're told to stay longer than normal and skirt around certain worker protections, again under threat of revoking of green cards. Its a system that is rife with abuse and exploitation. Explain to me how this is in line with the compassionate and worker-friendly label liberals at one time cared about having?

Joe Biden assured the community members and the mega donors that as a president, he would address their concerns with regard to H-1B visa and legal immigrants that attract the best and the brightest to the US.
Indian Americans, with their hard work and entrepreneurship, have powered the economic growth of the United States and helped forge cultural dynamism in the country, Democratic presidential candidate and former vice president Joe Biden said on Tuesday. Addressing a national virtual fundraiser organised by Indian Americans, Biden assured the community members and the mega donors that as a president, he would address their concerns with regard to H-1B visa and legal immigrants that attract the best and the brightest to the US.

Think about what this community has done for the country, he said. Entrepreneurs running businesses around the country and around the world, innovators who make the foundation for Silicon Valley and lead some of the most influential companies in the world come from the community, the former vice president said. “You have helped forge an economic and cultural dynamism in this country. That is a continuation of who we are, we are a nation of immigrants,” Biden said.

Hitting out at President Donald Trump, he said all the harmful actions on H-1B, racial injustice or climate crisis are a common threat. “This president makes things worse, not better,” Biden added. It makes parents wonder whether their kids will have the kind of future they dreamed of when they came here, he said.

“As president, I promise I am going to draw on the best, not the worst, beat this pandemic and build the economy back, help our kids get a good education and make sure healthcare is a right not a privilege, and build an immigration system that powers our economy and reflects our values,” Biden said. “We do not talk enough about how the Indian American community has powered our economic growth,” the former vice president said in his address to the virtual fundraiser, which according to his spokesperson Remi Yamamoto was attended by 268 people.

Highly appreciative of the cultural, social and family values of Indian Americans, Biden said that is why he values the Indian American Diaspora so much. Seema Sadanandan, a senior policy adviser to the campaign, opened the fundraiser and asked Dr Vivek Murthy, former surgeon general, to start off by talking about his relationship with Biden. Family was the main theme of the conversation with a few references thrown in about Indian food.

“Joe Biden is the kind of guy I would love to bring home to have dinner with my mom and dad,” Murthy said in his opening remarks, adding that some homemade masala dosa would be served. “He is authentic. He is real. And he says what he thinks and that is something I really love about him. He says what is on his mind. He is honest and true,” he said.

Biden, Murthy said, is a man who generally meets with his values and those values are reliably centred around generosity and community. “It is who he is,” Murthy said. In a statement, Ajay Jain Bhutoria, Asian American Pacific Islander Leadership Council and National Finance Committee member of the Biden campaign, said the former vice president will bring hope, unity, change and healing to the country.

“He will restore the soul of America and its glorious position on the world stage. He will be the best friend of India and Indo-Americans. He will streamline H1Bs, remove green card backlogs, sign new trade deals, implement climate change agreements, protect us against hate crimes, guard our places of worship and ensure that South Asians are well represented in his administration,” Bhutoria said.

Yeah, I actually vote based off of this. This is the issue that most directly affects my life. It's all around me and is traitorous to Americans.

The Indians are lobbying hard. They have organizations, run ads, contact politicians. He wants their vote

I'm still waiting on the data to back up y'alls assertions...

At the big 5 tech companies H1B visa and green card workers are making around 150k.

This is directly at odds with the narrative that they're being hired to undercut pay of American workers.
