Dog... you didn't factor in injuries at all...Also you keep getting the defensive rankings wrong.

1 star.

All I said was that the Heat typically went through defensively tough teams in route to their rings despite the fact that they typically had injuries just like the teams they went against. But what rankings did I get wrong? I was using Hollinger's defensive ratings.

And Bosh and Wade being injured seems bigger than Avery Bradley or Baron Davis or even Granger especially when you account for the fact that Bosh was their inside presence.

the heat had some very easy routes to the finals and especially compared to the lakers. Just because a team has a good ranking defense doesn't necessarily even make them a good team. Look at the old suns teams, they had 0 defense but they were better than 95% of the teams you mentioned. Add the win loss totals of the teams the heat faced and there you have a better picture.

lol this dude mentioned the Bucks. Yeah, lets ignore the slow pace that these teams played at. Lets ignore that completely.

The Bucks played at a pace of 97.2 possessions per game that year which was comparable to the Suns in 09-10 but had a much better defensive efficiency meaning they defended much better.

Oh yeah, and defensive efficiency takes Pace into account because it rates how many points are scored per 100 possessions.

Guess what? The Heat typically massacre teams of average defense and great offense because it plays right into their system. The Heat literally abuse soft defenses with no problem.

The Heat might play more defensively oriented teams that are much harder to score on especially come the playoffs. The Heat would literally destroy those Suns and it wouldn't even be close. Glass cannon teams typically aren't championship caliber teams. OKC was one of the best offenses that year and the Heat treated them like kids.

People act like the Heat are just running over bottom feeders when they are typically going through the best defensive teams in the league, in route to the finals, and usually playing the best offensive team in the west that season and still winning.

Well the spurs had great offense last year and good defense and they didn't get massacred... same with the Mavs in 2011.

The Heat had a paticularily easy run in 2012 IMO with the injury to ray allen and KG being hurt and last year was hella easy for them too given the fact that they should have crushed the pacers. This is all compared to previous champions of course... the Mavs had a harder run in 2011 than the Heat could ever possibly hope for... hell they may have had the hardest run in recent memory. I give the heat full credit for the finals last year and 2012, they always face great opponents in the finals.

still, the 2008-2010 years of the Lakers they never played a team that won less than 50 games... you can talk about defensive "ranking" as much as you want ( which has g state as the 3rd best defense this year ) but the Lakers just played tougher teams period. It's not even a slight against lebron or the heat... it's just reality :manny:

have first round byes 4 years in a row and try to act like it didn't happen, brehs

Phill? 10th best defense.

Knicks? 5th best defense.

Bucks? 12th best defense.

Charlotte: 6th best defense.

Bucks had better DEF rating than every team the repeat Lakers dealt with sans Houston in 08 and OKC in 09.

Facts.

The Spurs were the third best defense in the league and FAR better than any defense the repeat Lakers dealt with.

The Heat had a Wade crippled and Bosh missing for the two hardest series they dealt with. Wade was literally getting his knee drained before games just to get on the court.

The Pacers were way better than any defense the Lakers ever saw during their repeat plus built solely to best the Heat.

And Golden State has a great defense because they added Iggy and Bogut who are both top tier defenders when they aren't injured.

Like I said, the West is typically stronger but, again, how a lot of the teams in the West played (Especially during the repeat era) plays right into the Heat's style. The Heat would have much rather play a team like the 09 Suns over the Grizzlies or Nets this year.
