The Spurs were the third best defense in the league and FAR better than any defense the repeat Lakers dealt with.

The Heat had a Wade crippled and Bosh missing for the two hardest series they dealt with. Wade was literally getting his knee drained before games just to get on the court.

The Pacers were way better than any defense the Lakers ever saw during their repeat plus built solely to best the Heat.

And Golden State has a great defense because they added Iggy and Bogut who are both top tier defenders when they aren't injured.

Like I said, the West is typically stronger but, again, how a lot of the teams in the West played (Especially during the repeat era) plays right into the Heat's style. The Heat would have much rather play a team like the 09 Suns over the Grizzlies or Nets this year.

But you're doing rock paper scissors...

The Pacers being better defensively (statistically) than the 2008 and 2010 Celtics is a misnomer... everyone knows the 2008 and 2010 Celtics were among the best defensive teams ever.

It doesn't matter how high a teams defense is ranked... why didn't those teams win more games? You're acting like the Lakers wouldn't have beat the Pacers or the Bucks? I can't say for sure, they didn't play the games in the offs but this hypothetical argument is silly. The Heat crushed the Bulls in 2011 and that was a great achievement. However, the Lakers literally did not play a team with less than 48 wins. One year they faced the 50 wins Thunder, 53 win Jazz, then the 54 win Suns only to face the healthy and widely regarded as one of the best defensive teams ever Celtcs ( when healthy)

Miami didn't face a 48 win team until the finals outside the bulls in 2011and starts every year playing 30 win teams who are often injured. It's just reality. Still takes nothing away from the Heat titles, it's not like they chose to play easy teams, but shyt just happened :manny:

Point I'm making is that the Heat typically go through top tier defenses and average offenses which is actually the kinda team that gives them more trouble simply due to how their built.

A lot of the teams that were in the West are offensive powerhouses but average defensively which are the type of teams that the Heat actually do the best. Replace the 09-10 Lakers with the Heat...who stops them? I don't really see them having a problem with OKC, the Jazz, or Phoenix.

Lebron James is dropping 27-30 PPG on elite defenses in the playoffs AND we think he's gonna struggle with those teams? Jazz might go to 6 because Milsap is MJ against the Heat.

Offensive firepower looks great in the regular season but it's never as impressive come playoffs because defenses get better during a series. Lebron's Cavs was a regular season team but that Ish don't fly come the playoffs when the games become more physical and grittier. There can be a bunch of different reasons why a team might have an average record but still be plenty good come playoffs.

Trades made, injuries, a slump during a particularly rough schedule, new players learning the system, miracle game winners like Green hit against the Heat earlier, etc

Records conducive to how Good a team might be during the playoffs. The Pacers have the best record in the Easy but they look the most vulnerable, by far. You putting way too much stock in W-L record when it doesn't always tell the whole story. Outside of home court, the W-L has never been that big of a deal because the NBA is all about matchups. The Heat would rather see OKC or LAC in the finals than the Grizz, Fukk the records. The Heat would rather see Toronto over the Nets, etc.

The Celtics were a better defensive squad, overall, but they've always been a playoff team since the Big 3 started.

And you keep bringing up injuries like the Heat haven't had their two of their best players injured during both championship runs.

The bucks didn't have an average offense, neither did philly, neither does the Bobcats, all their offenses are below average. You're talking about teams who would not come close to qualifying for the playoffs in the west. The Lakers played the jazz with prime boozer and dwill in the first round 2009 and then played a young okc in 2010 fukk outta here :camby:

Definetly didnt have a cakewalk to the 2011 and 2012 finals, they just played well against tough teams
and the 2013 run was no cakewalk in the ECF and NBA Finals.

All I said was that the Heat typically played far tougher defenses than people tend to give them credit for.

They play very physical and tough defenses for multiple series, usually through injuries before meeting top tier offensive threats in the Finals.

Lol @ Prime Boozer and Deron Williams. Lebron would average 45 on 55% against those Jazz.

People act like these glass cannon teams the Lakers went against would be a bigger challenge for the Heat but they wouldn't.

Those Bucks were better defensively than those Jazz though and they got swept like children because the Heat offense is that damn good. :sas1:

Seems like if you don't have a top ten defense, you'll probably get swept or get one game against the Heat. :sas2:

I wonder how an elite defense like the Jazz would do with the Heat
