Rolling Stone did an article with Royce where he speaks on the making of the album. He was a consultant for ensuring the blends sounded right and L was in pocket

A lot of L's music was sold off 15 years ago and this is what's left, and they monetized it for the estate - which is respectable

I also didn't realize that Royce has a neurological condition that prevented him from rapping and recording these past few years (thought it was because Lupe took off his head lol...) apparently he's almost ready to come back

It’s getting some criticism. It’s a Duets album that I won’t really go back to.

It's the internet my guy

You can find criticisms about how Jesus handled the 12 disciples

Some people are just more comfortable being critical than offering solutions

SM is definitely the glass half empty crowd

The man been gone 26yrs. Not sure what type of project they were expecting

The Rolling Stone article sheds a lot of light on how much care and work went into making this album. Makes it all the more impressive because in my opinion the blends are pretty seamless. Some of these songs are structured so well you wouldn’t know L was deceased if you weren’t paying attention to some of the references.

Still remember the first time I heard this track on Tony Touch & DJ Khaled's collab mixtape back in '98. shyt was so dope and I was hyped to hear more from one of my favorite rappers. Little did I know months later he'd be gone... :mjcry:

That's my problem with the internet in general. So many people who do nothing love to criticize people who do something. Nobody did anything with Big L's catalog, such as it was, for years, then Nas steps in and you have all these people saying "He should've did this and that." I've just reached my limit on that type of criticism.

And some of these cats have not and will never actually spend a cent on L's works but they'll be the loudest.

He bodied that first verse, but you can tell he was legitimately tryna freestyle that second one so I'll give him props for that.
I think he said that was a verse everyoneknew him for and everyone would want to hear. That was just emblematic of the style at the time. The style Nas ushered out with Illmatic.
