Big Sean-Detroit 2 (Discussion Thread)

Waiting for the deadendhiphop review. I know Beezy and Kinge are going to hate on Sean Don as usual.

Might have to add "Lithuania" to the list of songs that I'd take off. Good song but it sounds more like Travis Scott ft. Big Sean. An Astroworld throwaway.

I listened to this album twice and for whatever reason it wasn’t hitting me. The music is there. It just wasn’t grabbing me.

The theme of the album was all over the place for me.

Then it dawned on me on what it was. It was the sequencing.

I went and resequenced the album and it literally sounds like a different album. Sequencing can dead ass make or break your project.


“Friday Night Cypher” should have been a bonus track.

I took out “Time In” because it was and sounded like him and Jhene recorded it as a joke.

THIS x 10! The songs I didn't like on first listen sounded much better when I shuffled them the second time.

FNC should have been a bonus track but I believe that would have put a dent in his sales. A large amount of folks only wanted to just hear the cypher. It being a bonus would have required them to purchase the physical copy if I'm not mistaken.

Finished listening to it...I can't defend this project. I don't like the production on it

After the first listen it's my least favorite album from him. I liked Deep Reverence with Nipsey and Wolves, it's the coli wolves anthem

Lucky me, I was damn near about to hit skip then the beat switched I could do without the first half of the track.

The subject matter of the album is cool but the production just ain't it.

Dark Sky Paradise is his best studio album

Sequencing feels off but I give him a pass it’s feels like a mixtape and I believe that was his intention plus his last 3 albums were cohesive. I’ve been listening to a lot of EPs and cohesive projects so this new Sean shyt which is an hour and eleven is jarring off rip.

Listening to this ... I realize why now my boy said he’s like the New age Fabolous. Dope rapper and all but just formulaic and generic as hell. You can see the potential in how good he can be but they’re just content with the Wash, Rinse, Repeat




I don’t think I can make it through 22 songs

Travis Weeknd and Drake are the nikkas who give other artists unfinished records they don't want as a "feature" and these rappers just put a verse on it and change the drums a little. Them nikkas are so happy to get a record with them that they'll take it.

Weeknd did this for 4 years straight. Travis been doing it for years you can tell this was some Astroworld loosie he didnt want it sounds awful

For a damn near 90 min album it’s hit or miss. At times, Sean is killing it then the energy just dissipates. The sequencing is pretty shytty too. If her removed 3-4 songs this would’ve been a 4 out of 5 album.

Just got to Don Life.

First impressions it's a very long boring listen.
Not one track jumped out to me.

Liked Deep Reverence but pretty much only for Nipsey. Sean brings down the energy of the track.
Would have been better as a Nipsey solo track
