I know you bias :stopitslime:
I’m a Washington fan, I have no dog in this fight. Placing the coach above great players is ridiculous in a sport where a player handles the football on every snap/play.

Walsh didn’t make Montana
Levy didn’t make Kelly
Carroll didn’t make Russ
Phil didn’t make Jordan, Shaq or Kobe
Beli didn’t make Brady
Pop didn’t make Duncan
Coaches didn’t make Bron

You see how coaches do without great players? They rarely win. Players play the game, great players are a product of their own hard work and greatness. Coaches don’t make GOAT level players GOAT level. They provide opportunity and get the f—- out of the way.

GM is not just about drafting it's about putting a team together. Who has done that better the past 19 years in this salary cap era?
I’m not as hard on him as some others in here are being but a lot of teams had periods where they drafted much better than us and assembled strong teams for periods of time - it’s why people often predicted us to lose and then we just kept defying the odds so they just assumed that we would figure it out. He’s been given the benefit of doubt to correct mistakes because 3 SBs in 4 years will buy you that. This “team building” your talking about is predicated on Brady getting paid less than his peers. If Brady made Peyton and Brees money, what then?

Nobody else talking about this.

There's been two transcendent QBs in the last 20+ years: Brady and Manning. Those two are the system. All they need is competent talent around them and the team is winning 10+ games every year. I will give the caveat that both played in terrible divisions most of their careers. Nobody in the AFC East or South was a serious contender besides New England and Indy.

I know the Jets made those two AFC title games with Rex/Sanchize but nobody thought they were winning it all and they haven't made the playoffs since. The Bills and Dolphins have been dumpster fires. The Jags and Texans were garbage while Peyton was in Indy. Tennessee had a couple years in 2002 and 2003 where they were really good and that's it.

It probably wouldn’t have changed much if anything tbh, QB salary is an extremely overrated factor in team building.

And when you factor in the fact that he was a 6th round pick, these massive cuts Tom has taken have been overstated

Brady had absolutely nothing to do with holding the best teams in the league to 17, 29, 21, 17, 21, 24, 28, and 3 points in the biggest game of the year.

Anyone who thinks the QB does it all in a 24-21 win doesn't know shyt about football.

How are they overstated? Did he play like a 6th round pick? Did he not make the pro bowl his first year as a starter? Did he not lead the NFL in TD passes his first full season starting? Did he not have multiple SB MVPs? Brady signed team-friendly extensions multiple times even after he was the most decorated quarterback in football. It matters a whole lot unless you have a bunch of young killers on defense on cheap contracts that you got in later rounds. Tom Brady taking less is how you keep Devin McCourty and extend the Moss’ of the world. It’s how you have that little extra to give Gilmore big money. The Chiefs gave Mahomes that extension but the big money doesn’t kick in yet and when it does they will have to make the same choices the Seahawks had to make.
