What? You must not have read all the Ricky Rubio is going to be the best point guard every posts he wrote every other month. Or how he goes out of his way to praise Kelly Olynyk (beyond him being a Celtics fan). There are just so many examples. Do your research.

And how many black players does he Stan? Hundreds

Have you read his basketball book? You look like a fool.

SINY!!
Bill Simmons and ESPN outgrew each other. It happens :manny:

Neither need each other. Simmons at this moment probably has suitors lining up with offers. Wherever he goes next, he will make bank and have more power/control. Yes he no longer has the machine that is ESPN backing him, but his audience is still huge.

As for Grantland, I would expect a mass exodus unless ESPN overpays to keep their most valuable people in place over there. In the weeks leading up to what happened today....I figured ESPN would have locked the staff in with non-competes/extensions etc.

Where's the reach? Kevin Love has been crying and complaining all year about touches, and his teammates in Minnesota called him selfish and a bad teammate. All off the things OJ Mayo was supposed to be.

The reach is that you took a harmless quote from 7 years ago to somehow prove he's a racist

Huge loss for ESPN.

It really sucks that they get to keep Grantland. Bill Simmons was responsible for about 95% of the good content on the network.

No offense but you sound like the stereotypical white dude with that "I don't watch" stuff. They don't care because if every person on here didn't watch we all know its way more people that do and since they are in the business of making $$$ I don't blame them. You can say Colin and Skip are trolls but trolling sells. Its a big reason Mayweather is where he's at because he got so many dudes mad as fukk with his act/life they pay to hopefully see him lose and keep his name on their lips. That's just what it is most famous talking heads have that love/hate and or trolling vibe with them. Don't think its many you can find that are popular that don't have it and damn near not at the same numbers as the famous troll/ love and hate types.

:russ:

Y'all kill me with this internet racial profiling. I'm as black as black can fukking be. What does me not wanting to watch ESPN's white noise of First Take, simulcasts of Mike & Mike, Beadle's show, the one with Jemele, and 70 different showings of Sportscenter have to do with my race? If something doesn't interest me I don't pay attention to it. I'm not entertained by people with fake opinions and if someone is I actually think less of them PLUS Mayweather is where he is today because he's one of the best to fukking do it not because he makes people mad. People watch that man for the talent in the ring not for his press conferences.

Agreed. Bill Simmons was "the face/voice" of Grantland....its not as much of an asset now when the creator is out. He will set up shop someplace, start another site like it.....and depending on the loyalty of his staff, they will follow him to his next venture (or may even try to parlay his leaving into a bigger payday)

Bill Simmons is a brand himself, anything he decides to do will be successful.

He was so much better when he wasnt huge...those Page 2 columns in the early 2000's were great...turned into a whiny douche.

I swear this life is like a Helium balloon or something
People on twitter saying he needs espn and will disappear like sas when he went to fox are dumb as hell

Simmons brand is big enough to survive on it's own and it's a bad comparison because sas brand depends on tv so he needed espns tv audience Simmons brand doesn't need tv

Bill Simmons despite his homerism is one of the best NBA analysts in the business. ESPN needs to pay the man otherwise their NBA coverage is kind of a joke.

He's the single worst basketball analyst that has ever been given a platform

He needs ESPN. You can never outgrow the machine which has a monopoly on the industry
