He's a cac would probably be the colis main reasoning
He does need them. The best stories came from ESPN's infinite budget. Nobody would read his stories if they weren't plastered on the front page of ESPN.
He's an awful writer, a low key racist, and knows next to nothing about the basketball. He dreams up fantasy trade scenarios, throws in pop culture and movie references, and bashes talented players in favor of less talented white guys. He not only does this in sports, he does the same for movies and TV.
He whines and complains about everything, when in actuality he's the luckiest man in sports journalism. A fanboy of minimal talent (both written and athletic) who got to live his dream by appealing to a crowd of his ilk. This is the same guy who basically made Magic Johnson leave espn because Magic saw how much power he had over their show. A guy who has never picked up a ball in a meaningful game telling Magic Johnson he knows more about basketball.
Good riddance.

The only good things about Grantland are Jalen and Jacoby, and Jonathan Abrams (should've given him the keys to The Undefeated). Everything else are just corny guys trying to be down, or critics pretending they hate everything.

Grantland will be fine as long as they keep guys like Lowe, Barnwell, Abrahams and the like (and most of their editors). Which I guess will be the biggest story out of this news, who does Simmons takes with him?
I'm not a big fan of Bill's opinions on anything, but he has a great eye for talent and interesting people to talk to or write for him.

Appreciated what he built at espn, his writing and most certainly his insufferable tv presence can kick rocks though. Really just a case of massive egos and dikkhead clashing (no homo). Difficult to give much of a fukk. Simmons is going to get his money and his platform regardless.
I can't imagine that Simmons didn't see this coming and his writers contracts either end around the same time as him or have opt outs if he leaves

Bill Simmons despite his homerism is one of the best NBA analysts in the business. ESPN needs to pay the man otherwise their NBA coverage is kind of a joke.
He's not a good analyst. He's been watching sports his whole life but all that hyperbole and homerism is misleading to casual viewers trying to be put up on game.
His interviews on his podcasts are top notch and he's done great things with Grantland beyond sports. I agree with you, I think ESPN fukked up here.
