I think you are understating what his role is there.

I know starting 30 for 30 and grant land were huge but from a strictly economical and bottom line standpoint he doesn't generate the revenue to be paid 6 plus million

While you may not like Cowherd or Skip and most don't they bring in tons through as revenue to the company through radio and tv so financially it makes a lot more area to pay them that money the Simmons who brings a lot more to the creative side but not the financial

SINY!!
Simmons was already making 5 million a year. I don't see how 1 million dollars more was a deal breaker. In the long run I think the creation of more programming, sites, etc would have justified the raise.

The fact is that Skipper wanted him out. Look back at last year during Ray Gate when everyone on the network was bashing Goodell over his handling of it....funny how Simmons was the only person suspended over it. Look again at his appearance on the Dan Patrick show.....says Goodell has no "testicular fortitude" to hand out massive punishments, and the next day Skipper announces Simmons won't be back (he had 4 months left on his contract btw)......a lot of funny business going on.

Between Fox, Yahoo, and some of the other reported suitors.....Vice seems to be the most interesting prospect IMO.

The only way this turns out OK is if ESPN replaces all the Simmons related content with LeBatard and Bomani related content. I hear they really invested in at least LeBatard so hopefully he gets more airtime than just HQ, which is a nice breath of fresh air for 30 min but he and Bomani need their own hour long shows, instead of NFL Live, First Take and I'm sorry but His and Hers is the worst too and PTI is :flabbynsick:
Dan is expanding his radio show by taking it to fusion tv.. A subsidiary subsidiary of espn.. So i dont think they will persue him..

But papi doe

If you paid attention to Simmons since his suspension he's been talking even more reckless towards espn and Goodell it's clear he had enough and there was absolutely no way he was gonna resign when his contract was up

Espn saw the handwriting on the wall and struck first publicly

Religion is dumb b
How the fukk did he get Jalen a job? Jalen was working in the media WHILE he was still playing. Stop giving him credit for that.
And he doesn't need ESPN anymore. With youtube he can get his viewers And clicks. His name can stand alone and he'll still succeed just on a smaller level.

Youtube pays nothing...

NBA TV could use bill. It will be 8pm and I struggle to stay awake watching that bullshyt.

He could, but Bill is thinking bigger then just the NBA.....at least at this point in his career. I personally think a pairing with Vice would be perfect for him. It may not pay anywhere near what his other suitors are offering.....but in terms of building his brand, and creative freedom it could be a bigger payoff in the long run.

I can't see him wanting anything to do with a "traditional" media company. Sure he would get more money, but he would also be on a leash as well.
