That pissed you off but Migos being ten places above them doesn't?

Bone and them even had a back and forth about that a few years back.

That’s just what jumped out at first glance. That list could supply enough outrage to last a lifetime lol. But that’s generally how these list are. I mean, it only took 3 slots to see City Girls are ranked higher than MOP:francis:

Maybe if Migos was above clearly better artists in the back 25.

But fukking 11. Right below the top ten.

You suffer from having too much mercy.

UGK not being in the top 10 and Lox not being in the top 15 is a travesty considering folks they put above them.

They made this list to piss people off who knows better.

The top ten looks like they tried hard to find the right blend to please everyone while making a bid for cred to make up for the fukkery before.

Salt & Pepper were put there for inclusion and not to piss off women in woke 2023.

I would have had Wu first followed by NWA. Probably Public Enemy and Geto Boys after that.

Outkast is obviously a GOAT level act but the rationale that puts them so high has to be Andre 3000. To me that's not enough to put them above most of the top 10.

Andre 3000 can be argued as Top 5 (not mine) but you can't tell me Outkast outdoes the nine members of Wu meshing together. That should be included as parameters considering this list if ranking groups.

Not Outkast album had the influence or impacts as Enter the Wu. Or Straight Outta Compton for that matter.

Make y'all own lists and stop worrying about a white publication's opinion.
I agree 100 percent but this is a Hip Hop board built for this sort of thing. It's better than talking about which Generation Zoom rap junkie is fighting a case this week.

It's the internet as a whole that unfortunately gives these bullshyt validation. From social media to disgruntled rappers doing Vlad interviews.

Diplomats ranked higher than Clipse so maybe Jim Jones can wash the sand out of his Arubian p*ssy and let that Pusha shyt go.

Considering a list is what set his period off to begin with

Fam I don't know anyone who was listening to the Beasties and I'm from that era. Every time EPMD put an album out it was the hottest thing in the streets. I respect the BB's but they weren't a part of the culture like that.
LL and Chuck D vouch for them being part of the culture. Can't get more credible than that.

They also not ignorable like 3rd Bass or House of Pain.

Beasties are part of the reason the game went mainstream in a positive non Vanilla Ice kind of way because they were actual artists.

White girls have always paid Hip Hop's bills by actually buying the music.

If it wasnt for the mainstream, rap would have probably remained a regional thing and most rappers wouldnt have had the financial incentive to dedicate their lives to it.

It's an uncomfortable truth, I know.

This. And the fact that its Billboard lets you know that this comes down to numbers even though they still deviate from strictly numbers to include other criteria.

No. This can’t be because:

1. …I own a comprehensive Billboard chart book that covers 53 years of the numbers, and this
list doesn’t seem consistent with it

2. there are groups on here that were never did the numbers of groups under them (The Roots, Slum Village)

So they brought white folks in?

This is black music and black culture. If you weren't getting played in Harlem, the Bronx, Brooklyn, etc then you're not getting rated ahead of EPMD who was.

I'm not saying they don't deserve to be ranked at all but they're too high.

Nwa has always been disrespected so this isn't really a surprise

But nwa should be number 1

They birth the current era and changed rap forever

No one in California played OutKast like that. Also They more of a duo than a group.

I mean they were a solid group. But they didn't change hip hop like nwa

But it's billboard I'm not surprised
