It was a ripoff but done better. Sandra Bullock was too old for that role though. She did a good job but you have to rewrite the motherhood thing for a woman that old

Why are people calling this a quiet place ripoff? Bird Box is based off a novel written in 2014 way before a quiet place

Was an ehh movie to me.

The cinematography was terrible. I did not like the ending at alll, although I do dig the idea that she finally felt connected to something/someone. The love pairing was weird and forced and the dialogue was borderline camp. Also had a lot of plotholes.

Saying all of that, this movie was very suspenseful with all those flaws. The acting was really good too. I thought Malkovic and Rhodes killed it.

Question, why could the birds sense the monsters? Did it ever explain that?

They are animals.

The animals were the only things that weren't affected by this because they don't have the same fears and worries as humans. Also probably don't believe in spirits so all that evil could not affect them.

If there were dogs around, they probably would have barked too. You also saw the horse running away on the highway/

I kinda agree. He should've had the personality of John Malkovich's character. He;s the one that got Charlie killed. He probably would've let Gary in the house too.

But he's the good-hearted hero of the movie. He could've been white and the same thing would've happened.

Well i just watched and heres the thing. Why Tom had to answer the door for the psychos in the first place? Why they couldn't hide like in the previous house? I guess hero man had to sacrifice himself. Same thing happened in A Quiet Place.

Douglas might have been an a$$hole but he was the smartest one. I was agreeing on every choice he wanted to make.. If not for taking Olympica in, then she wouldn't had let in that crazed lunatic that caused her to jump out the window, Douglas getting stabbed to death and Tom nearly dying trying to fight dude off.

As a black male lead, I felt Tom was strong but no way in hell I'm sacrificing my life for Sandra Bullock and 2 white kids that ain't mine. Breh was too p*ssy whipped. Let's keep it a buck

I watched it, read the book, then watched it again. They did a solid job with the film. The book is only a 2-3 hour read (and I read slow).

The only category I'll give A Quiet Place is cinematography.

Character Development was a wash
The story wasn't better and for as much hate as Bird Box is receiving for plot holes, I can type up titangraphs picking A Quiet Place a part
The monster's design were cut and pasted from Stranger Things, and their weakness was laughable

So, nah, I have both movies fresh in my mind because I watched them both for the first time last week. And honestly, the more I think about A Quiet Place, the dumber that movie becomes for me.

If we're going to nitpick and shyt on Bird Box's story and ending, let's keep the same energy with A Quiet Place because that movie literally does a worse job at explaining wtf is going on and had main storylines that were GIGANTIC reaches from a logical perspective.

Mallory was a pretty cold character. I could see Tom wanting and almost begging for kids during the 5 years and her never letting it happen. She always had to be in control and woulda shut that down just like the end of his story he was trying to tell the kids.
