Maybe he can stay....figure out a way to keep his restaurant on the bottom level while they build the condo on top of him in the new building. He pays ZERO rent/charges while they upgrade and maybe even let him keep a food truck or something when they do need to tear it down to finish the construction?

EVERYONE has a price and America is a capitalistic country. In this case HE OWNS, so he won't get screwed like so many others if they finally give him an offer he can't refuse.
I came to say this...

cacs do this all the time.

I'm from Austin and let me tell you, he should've taken that money. Austin is not really major like say Houston and Dallas, but the gentrification there is on crazy levels. The methods they are using to drive people out of their homes for these new apartments complexes and business is almost scary. I pray he can survive but I see him eventually having to close down for nothing. They will drive out his customer base and then surround him with cacs which will then kill his business. Smh they always find a way.

I've been there many times too. Great people and the food is banging.

I'll take the 3 Mill and have "Sam's BBQ" as a restaurant in that development.

The point of owning a business is to make money...hope he’s making more than 3 mil in owning that spot, otherwise sell, and open another with plenty of cash in the bank...your customers will follow and you got cash and a business to pass down m

If you got a clientele you built over 50 years and your building is paid off that. Is ain’t going no where.

I don’t think this was a biz move for him I think he’s just not for the gentrification.

considering the costs of purchasing a new local, moving, loosing employees and customers ect, 3 mill isnt enough.

Considering the fact they about to make 100M off his land it ain’t enough.

But I think he could easily relocate maintain enough of his clientele and still pocket over a million with that offer.

at some point that clientele will dwindle down if you are not bringing in new clients his best bet is to sell for a high price

“I just turned down $3 million for the community,” Mays said. “I told them, ‘I don’t mind staying, but I turned down $3 million. I need support now.’ I’m going to be here, but y’all have got to support me now.”
:damn:
