I somewhat agree. But for restaurants in particular, if the food is good, I’ll comply with whatever the rules or “gimmick” is

I went to a spot in Vegas and it was totally dark, they had to guide you to your seat, tell you where you where your utensils, glasses etc were. You didn’t even know what you were eating. 4-5 courses and you’re guessing. At the end they tell you, you just ate a vegan meal. Food was below average and overpriced

If it were good, it would’ve been worth it
What the f*ck is that? That's doing too much

Yeah but I bet some would argue they should. I'm fine with it as long as you know the deal before you go. That man is telling you why he wants it that way at his establishment. I don't think it's the wildest of ideas. If you don't like it, just don't go. But at least give it chance to cook.
Its just a shame that so many black restaurant owners put themselves out of business or limit their growth, with these power trips. Trying to raise their patrons instead of serve them.
He not going to be around for long i suspect. eventually the novelty will wear off, and people will not be willing to go through the hassle of having a tsa check just to eat a meal.

I agree that movie theaters should do this though, That would actually enhance the experience for everyone. But even they probably understand this isn't going to popular long term.

A bunch of people pay for things from their phone nowadays including myself. And there are also people like me who unlock/lock their cards after every use. A person who unlocks/locks their account via their phones would avoid a place like this with such rules.

I generally avoid business that try to dictate my behavior or virtu signal too hard. wouldn't frequent.

I understand why a standup comedian has a no phone policy, they don't want their set recorded and spoiled. But a chef? You worked in hells kitchen breh, you can handle distracted customers.

Even movie theaters don't go as far as collecting peoples phones. and that can directly affect the experience.

some people don't have phone etiquette. the number of businesses that have lost business because customers didn't want to be next to people talking loudly on the phone is incalculable.

his eating no-phone atmosphere would appeal to a lot of people.

I actually think it is calculable. and i suspect the number would be less than the number of people you scare away by requiring a tsa check prior to entry

We literally see people pay extra to skip that experience airports. So the logic shouldn't be that hard to consider

He's tapping into the DC crowd that wants to socialize.

The real question is gonna be how many females will attend something like this.
