I heard Las Vegas actually has a pretty sizable Black population outside of the strip.
Las Vegas has one of the largest black communities in The West, per ACS '23:

•~11%, ~70k black residents in-city
•~12%, ~270k black residents in metro

And our community is visible there, honestly Vegas is one of those cities that if someone tells you its actually only 11% black, you'd question the accuracy. It definitely "feels" like a city more around 20% black, you see black people all over the place, there are black businesses, black people in high profile positions, etc.
That's a southern city. I define "The West" as the states beginning with the row (north to south) of: Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico;

But also including West Texas as part of The West, El Paso being the major city there. El Paso/West Texas have some southern influence but it feels like a city in New Mexico, way more than it feels like the major Texas cities.

Never been to Tulsa, but I've been to OKC, which is further west than Tulsa, and OKC is a southern city. I'd assume Tulsa is much the same way.
San Diego is actually underrated in our Black presence
The thing with SD is that the shyt people say about LA, actually applies to SD. You don't see black people anywhere near as widespread in SD the way you do in LA; there's a significantly smaller wealth base in Black San Diego; significantly smaller middle class; and so on.

You have to very specifically be in Southeast because we really don't live anywhere else in the entire region in large number. Its not like LA, The Bay, LV, or Sac, where there are suburban cities bordering the city, with large black communities. Hell I don't even think SD has an Aurora the way Denver does.

A major difference between the primary black cities of The West and SD, is people know that when they go to LA, The Bay, or Vegas, they will see black culture. Hell, people will argue that Seattle is more culturally black than San Diego, and people know that if they go to Phoenix they will see more black people than in SD.

I'm all ears for you making the case that Black San Diego is underrated, I just don't see it, bro! Tons of black people love San Diego far and wide, I'd argue its got the best overall reputation among Black people, of any California city------>but the many people who love San Diego, it ain't because of black community or culture, its a very specific characteristic nobody brings up, because that ain't what people go to San Diego for.
How cold does it get in Aurora? I heard brother go out there and clean up with the white women? The thing about them areas like Denver, Phoenix,San Diego is it seems like regular black men have had some run in with law enforcement . I wouldn’t want to worry about that.
I'm sure pretty cold 🤣 I haven't spent a winter there yet though!

I like mixed cities with a nice sized AA presence.

I guess thats one reason I liked Diego.

But out west thats going to be hard to find in the states. But I prefer melting pots or cities with diversity on shyt to do. Cities with exciting and progressive shyt going on. Usually one sided places are boring and repetitive filled with “local celebrity” and arrogance doesn’t matter who the majority is.

See Daygo doesn't fit my description of nice sized black presence, but I feel the same way, I like racially and ethnically diverse places, but not so hyper diverse that the black population is muted.

where they cross-over and clap boards
I was just in San Francisco and Napa/Sonoma for a few days. Could literally count on one hand the number of black people I saw. Although I did run into Danny Glover at lunch one day, I was surprised at the lack of black folks out there. I wanted to go to Oakland, but I didn't have enough time.

Them hills are ridiculous out there. The Waymo was nice.

I haven’t been there in over 10 years unfortunately, not even in passing.

But from what I remember, I never had a hard time finding other black people and their events. I went out dolo there and met brothers that I’m still cool with now.

And I personally still know a ton of black people there now, even though they are mostly retired.

But in essence, it was a fun city with a lot of variety and still is from what I’ve seen/heard from friends and people on The Coli.

Usually the only complaint is cost of living. But mostly agree with everything you posted.
