Yeah, he use to work for Deloitte up here but he wanted to move back closer to home he’s from Washington D.C.

My pops lives in Lake Arbor and I have two uncles who live in Woodmore. They’re doing good for themselves but none of them have a net worth over a million dollars or even close to it.

Yeah the list is basically the best middle class Black "communities" with the highest salaries --- not measuring net worth and debt. Like you said, 3 of them are just Bowie they split up.

I remember when DeKalb County, GA was the second richest Black county in America before the recession. I was living in DeKalb like this is really the 2nd richest spot for Blacks in the entire country....cuz it didn't seem like it to me they were talking shyt about DeKalb and PG in this City Data thread smh

I'd bet most of the Black people with a +1 million dollar net worth don't live in a Black suburb but in a more diverse area

what was the point you were trying to make? she was obviously referencing the atlanta metro area (the city has a population of like 400k so we already know when people talk about "atlanta" they aren't talking about the city proper). so just like those metro areas have the communities in this list, where are the communities in atlanta's metro area since it's such black excellence? it's an apples to apples comparison.

I would like to see a list adjusted by cost of living. That's prob the reason why DC is higher than everyone else. People get paid more in DC cause of the higher COL.

This is true, but poverty rates in the DC area are lower as well and educational attainment rates are the highest

Atlanta is a city/metro area. The spots on the list look like suburbs

The towns listed in PG county are adjacent to DC, or within a few miles of the DC border- like 15-20 mins out, no traffic . Atlanta doesn't have any majority black suburbs outside of the city limits?

I wonder why they separated Mitchellville and Lake Arbor, they are essentially the same places. Driver's license doesn't say "Lake Arbor", MD - they list the city as Mitchellville, MD. Mitchellville and Woodmore are where most of the athletes (redskins, wizards) black politicians and black "elite" live who run in the government circles.

They're all right down 301 too - all they needed to do was add Bowie, MD on the list and they would literally have every town in PG except for Oxon Hill, Capitol Heights, Greenbelt and Landover.

Atlanta does. But the 08 recession really hurt the Black middle class in the ATL metro area and a lot of people never recovered. The DC area has a more stable economy although PG was hit hard too.

People talking out their ass in this thread. Government workers don’t make that much unless they’re in IT or some sort of supervisor position. They don’t know about the huge companies like Northrop Grumman and Booz Allen Hamilton that pay real good money. There’s a ton of people in PG that work in Baltimore for these types of companies

Facts. and T. Rowe Price is another one. Along with the Univ of MD system - all the universities and colleges under their system is another big employer. I think everybody that I know who graduated from Morgan State with an accounting or finance degree works at T. Rowe.
