Come to the Poconos. Large affordable houses, large land and reasonable taxes. I left NJ and I'm good good. I drive to NJ and NY when I want with no issues.

No good jobs in PA. To travel 4 to 6 hours to NYC back and forth daily, for ONE INCOME, is inhumane.

Prices are going up tho, but thats everywhere but there are decent value to be found, then when you compare house sizes to NY its a win in that direction, you can choose suburban living yet still be a half hour to the city.


Almost moved to FL about 6 years ago, so so glad I didnt make that move, to think wha i could get for a house w/ pool & boat dock still leaves me longing but considering their political shytuation I'm glad i didnt make that decision

New York State passed the excelsior scholarship years ago. It guarantees free tuition plus transportation assistance to any New York resident who goes to a CUNY or SUNY university.

Same thing with its micro credentials program at CUNY. You can enter CUNY and sign up for multiple free credentials in Project management, Marketing or Tech.

Also the State partnered with coursera to give out free Certs for NY residents.


^^^ This is why it sucks black folks are leaving since we have so many ways to gain upward mobility here.

It's not the same as just filling out paperwork and enrolling in K-12, they've got several guidelines

MT Vernon used to be 98% Black American and Jamaican. Now you got Latinos (PRs and DRs) moving there since they raised rent prices in South Bronx a couple of years ago when COVID vaccines got pushed out.

At this point, just buy a 2 bedroom apartment in New Rochelle or Elmsford and own something where black people are not an anomaly.

You’re making this annoying for no reason. My brother is literally enrolled in John Jay college and the process is actually simple as hell. You first fill out your Fafsa then you will get an email from Tap they will tell you about the scholarship the scholarship will use your fafsa information ask you what grade you are and that’s it. It’s literally a two minute process.

The City Councilmembers that you THINK are your friends are NOT. They are in the back pockets of mega development realty companies whose sole purpose is to extract the most profit from any given piece of land they can lay their eyes on and they don't care how you feel about it.

They will legit stack Community Boards with people friendly to whatever it is they want and then say it was on behalf of said community.

The Borough Presidents and Mayor are complicit in this shyt too.

Recently met sum Cacs from PA who work fire/EMS & Pigs in DC & Surrounding area they copped a crib, renovated it and share it among themselves while renting out a floor. There was 6 of em brothers & cousins. They just come into town to work their 3-12's or 4-10's then go back home to the sticks of PA
