Now this is definitely really important. But everything else you said sounds like the area is great. :russ:

I'm thinking of stay there for my MD and maybe an internship after and then decide wether i would completely settle in the area for good or move back up to the tri-state.
if i return, it'll be for NYC only. i'm a jersey breh but i have no plans to return to jersey:skip:
there's MAD Africans here, if i had to compare, its like the way Caribbeans are in the TriState. I'm out in VA so most of the Africans here are Ethiopians but there's Africans from everywhere in the DMV. and the women here are :obama:AAs from PG :blessed:transplants like me :blessed:big batty Africans gyals from Moco/PG:blessed:Silver Spring:blessed:

True that. I'd definitely move to NYC rather than NJ if i decide to move back. Hell I used to live in the BX during elementary & middle school and still commute to my hospital job there right now. :russ:

But I can't wait to experience what the DC area has to offer next year. Definitely gonna check the area out this summer while i'm doing interviews. :salute:

i just checked, almost all the ones listed are in Nassau County with some in Suffolk and one in Rockland

There's definitely some black wealth in Rockland County. I live about 2 towns from the border.

We had one Haitian kid from Hillcrest, NY used to commute to my old HS in Bergen County everyday. He invited some of us to his crib for his 18th birthday and his house was :whew::whew::whew:. I used to think Rockland was just was hood ass Spring Valley :scust: but this kid lived in a town where the black residents were loaded.

Roosevelt is not a hell hole. You're mistaking roosevelt for hempstead, because the issues in Hempstead often spill over to roosevelt.

I’m not confusing Hempstead with roosevelt. Like I said true or not it is the stigma that surrounds Roosevelt. Matter of fact just google is roosevelt safe. Here let me help you.

Oh how about this, the roosevelt schools were so bad that it became the FIRST school district in NY that the state took over.

Roosevelt Welcomes Students Back To School As District Gets Back On Track

the Roosevelt school district was so troubled, it was the first and only district taken over by New York State. For more than two decades, it sputtered and stalled.

Granted it’s getting better but the stigma is still there, like I said in my original post.

So no I’m not confusing roosevelt with Hempstead

I rest my case your honor.

If you are from NYC, the DMV is usually hit or miss. The bougie crowd is something many NY folks I know complain about, even if they themselves are a bit bougie. The careerism and how it can dominate interactions/conversations rubs them the wrong way. The Black community in terms of interest and sub-cultures are not as diverse as NYC. My friends who are frat/soror tend to enjoy it more but that is to be expected. And Black creatives/non-white collar professionals more often than not ain't gonna rock with it long term, for them D.C IS cool for a weekend and that's where it ends.

Not sure what you think you're mic dropping on? I'm from LI. Got family in Hempstead. Friends from Baldwin, Freeport, and Roosevelt. To call it a "hell hole" is hyperbole of the worst sort.

If Roosevelt is a hell hole, I'd hate to hear what you call other black communities.

You're hyperlinking articles when I'm actually out there. I'd tell you to find the articles that talk about how the school district, or point out that this study is based off of 1) median household income 2) that encompasses multiple census tracts. But that level of nuance and disciplined discussion was eradicated the moment you introduced the term "hell hole".

Isn't Atlanta supposed to be the black mecca? Why are there no dark blue dots :ohhh:

This is what I can say about Atlanta and wealth.

This study calculates "income" right...lots of the black people I know here are entrepreneurs or making money independently.

So a guy I was dating for a while (still a good friend) is a musician but also a tech guy (certs). He works when he wants and owns a home that is worth about a million dollars...he's like the millionaire nextdoor and no one would even know it.

I find that a lot in Atlanta...less credential focused, but more entrepreneurial and hidden money in a way.
