Ya'all don't seriously think that there's a difference between a gorilla and an alligator?


People literally hunt alligators for fun.

Kill a gorilla, and you go to jail.


Gorillas can learn sign language and paint art and shyt.

Alligators are barely any smarter than the goldfish in your bowl.


I didn't care one bit that they killed the gorilla - it had to be done. But I wasn't surprised people got up in their feelings about it - it was a gorilla.


Of course no one is going to give a shyt about some alligator dying.

I don't have kids but I know I should be watchin a two year omd at night in Florida near any water instead of havin a goddamn "movie night" on the beach.... fukk is wrong with people? Now we have a case of both parents present, letting their TWO YEAR OLD get killed by a gator, and it's time to pray for baby Zach and his parents LOL.... I admit, I ain't never been to Florida. But do people seriously stand 30 feet back of every body of water in Florida because a gator might pop out?

People went all crazy about some lion getting shot, of course they're gonna go apeshyt about a gorilla biting the dust. Especially a gorilla sitting in a zoo that hadn't done nothign but walk around with the kid. The gorilla definitely had to die, but some people are going to get all up in their emotions and stupid after that. No one gives a fukking shyt about an alligator, so it doesn't create the same emotions.

Kids die every day - falling into swimming pools, off balconies, wandering into traffic, drinking something they shouldn't have. That shyt happens - it's only going to be some giant story about parental neglect if there's an element that makes people extra emotional about it - like the gorilla getting shot.

Why the fukk would you build a man made beach with white sand and beach chairs and host movie nights on a lake with gators in it and have absolutely no warnings that there are gators in the lake? Disney is at fault here because they are giving people a false sense of security with this. Disney World gets guests from all over the world and not everyone knows that alligators can get in most bodies of water in Orlando. I didn't know that the lakes in Cancun had gators in them but the city was wise enough to post warnings around the letting you know.

If I remember correctly, the parents were watching the child before and when he died. Alligators sneak up on prey and kill quick. They didn't know there were aliigators over there b/c there were no warning signs, which is exactly why they can sue. Hopefully for billions. This could have happened to anyone.

The mother at the zoo wasn't watching her child, that is how he had enough time to climb (not fall, climb) all of the way down there with those animals. Their child didn't die and was in there for a while with those animals without being harmed before they killed it. This rarely happens and could only happen to people who weren't watching their children. Millions of kids go to the zoo and know not to climb in the animal's areas.

Parents were close but not that close, the gator took the kid as a young animal like any other predator would

1. i think there's a stark difference between a kid getting into a gorilla pen vs a kid playing on a beach in 2 ft water with no known imminent danger. Not sure why that has to be noted.

2. there's already outrage brewing about the alligators being killed.

3. they are alligators, if you live in south florida you really don't care about this. Process the meat and use the hide.

4. give this some more time and lets see the reactions, it took a while for the gorilla storm to really get going. Playing up the race card so soon after a 2 year old died is actually counterproductive because you immediately draw racially battle lines...instead of it being about parenting

Eh, last time kid fell into some wild animal zoo here, parents got crucified and the zoo tried to to action against them. The kid was White in this scenario.
The kid dying is a big chunk of the reason why the parents aren't being treated as brutally in the media, that and the father attempting the fight the alligator to save the kid.
There are similar circumstances that would show white privilege, this isn't one of them.
