that wasn't her agenda but something implicitly in their heads whenever race comes up - they can't help but differentiate themselves from Black (African and Black Americans) and Latinos and very rarely do they call themselves Black Latinas, maybe at most negras which has very large color spectrum in latin america.

The bolded is VERY true and spoke to some Dominicans online who claimed they were Afro-Latino but for the life of them could NOT separate "Black" from African-American/ethnicity. Its like they KNOW they are Afro-Latino but once the term "Black" comes into play they have a brain fart.

thanks, if you haven't encountered it, it's hard to wrap your head around - so I understand why people are getting all tight about it. I see it from a different angle because I know how alot of these latins think and behave.

Black Latinos are not AA and never will be... You really expected this chick to say she just black?

She accurately describe who she is and what her origins by saying a black person immigrant. Nikkas really need to stop looking for some sort of acceptance from these black latinos. At the end of the day these latinos might be black but they are still "Latino" and will represent that just like any other group of blacks in the diaspora...

Here is the confusion being displayed. @Perfectson @Poitier @Akan

Am I missing something? The woman clearly said she was a black immigrant.

saying "my skin color doesn't define me" = rejecting blackness. what the hell was she supposed to say? "yes, i am a ******"?

Breh. I think some of these people are mentally disturbed.

I'm outta here. :mjlol:

Watch the second clip. Pay attention to her face twitch when she says the word 'black'. Pay attention the the small grin in the upper left corner of the KKK spokesperson's mouth when he mentions her claiming to be Cuban.

Skin color doesn't define anybody. People that make that type of statement seem to be implying being Black (which is shorthand for African) is a negative thing.
