I know hip hop is played in Jamaica.. Its played across the world so what..

Just because it's "played doesn't mean that its popular and "beloved" as what Dip was saying..

Soccer is "playing in the US... that doesn't make it "beloved" nor does it make it popular
African American music is popular and influential in many parts of the world. (Jamaica included)

Sorry.. Im a little more advanced on this topic then you..

I guess I should have started with a basic question so I wouldn't have to type so much, because Ive had this convo a thousand times on here

But you probably don't realize this but AA don't have any culture other then hip hop so that had to be what you ere talking about by default when you refer to AA culture

Y'all really don't have any other contributions to the world.. "culture wise" .. You don't have your own food, language, architecture, flag, no way of life .... everything that is considered AA "culture is related to hip hop...

no country = no culture (and that's the situation AA are in)
Your a troll.

Im outside the country right now, AA culture is everywhere. The funny thing is, one doesnt understand the scope and magnitude of AA influence
Till hes traveled if anything:heh:

Walking down the streets of tokyo and stumbling on SOUL food resturaunts
Walking down the streets of seoul and hearing hip hop blaring out of stores in their language
Hearing jazz in coffee shops, hotels etc

This whole "shut up your not well traveled" gimmick africans and west indians like to promote, gets exposed once you actually get out there

And hip hop=youth culture And is a new york based street culture. AA culture as a whole is southern based and existed over a hundred years before anybody rapped:martin:

At no point did you ask me a question, but keep posting and looking foolish

I've said nothing foolish.. Only the truths, which seem to bother people

I love hip hop btw..( I copped every last one Jim Jones albums and mixtapes (actually bought them)

But the truth is the hip hop is not "beloved" ..

Is it played.. its imitated. Sure to an extent.. But there is an audience for everything .. I saw a French dude do a video to that "Watch me whip, watch me nae nae video) So what ..

Smart people in hip hop use it stepping stone to bigger and better things..

Nobody is a actor and then goes on to be a rapper... No businessman sells his company to pursue a career in rap... And no successful rapper has "just" been a rapper...

Think Jay-Z, think Diddy, think 50.. .the smart ones have use rap to get to another place in life..

As much as I love hip hop.. its not something that's "beloved" .. its just represented a youthful phase in peoples lives. What successful 30 year old is paying to go to a Future concert :mjlol:..

Idaho.
Also...black is synonymous with AA.

It does not mean African :comeon:
This is how all the white/non-black people I know at my past 2 jobs view race. I'm Dominican and my co-worker is from Antigua & Barbuda and we asked them what race we were and they said Caribbean :deadmanny:. Black to them is AA, doesn't matter how much I try to educate them.

I've been to Japan and Korea too, so i know what you mean..

and it different in Europe..

Rap is polarizing.. Some people love it and some people HATE it...

But like I said there is an audience for everything.. so just cause something is profitable does not mean its"beloved or influential"

And thinking rap music was a southern thing.. :camby:... That's where I have to end this post

Lies, actual Africans in Africa are very proud of being African. Tribal lineage is pronounced but never to disparage one's status as an African

Source: My life experience as a born and bred African

Mine to... I concur. Too many experts on Africa who are not even continental African and speaking for Africans. It's comically sad. They draw imaginary lines where there are non. Black people around the world forge connections all the time everyday

Black and African(descended) to me are and should be synonimous.

Ive heard other ppl try to classify Australian Aborignals as black, but those were pretty much the over inclusive everyone is black type.

I every strongly doubt that Native Australians use black as an identifier to relate to you or me as much as it would be to differentiate themselves from the white folks that invaded their land, IF they even use it at all.

Actually many do...

But in this case it is though. I would argue rap is even bigger in europe. But enough about rap, its only one genre out of many
AA created music genres. Black americans redefined much of what is modern global appropriated music. This was happening long before hip hop

And i said AA culture as a whole is mostly a southeastern based culture. The seeds of hip hop-sonically is rooted and based on funk music. Rapping was based off traditional jive talking to include poetry styles like the last poets, albums like Hustlers Convention etc

:martin: How is this the case. Most black immigrants gain better understanding/knowledge of self with blackness though AA/AA culture. Ask Marcus Garvey
