I love fat asses on women just as much as the next dude(fukk rims & cars) but that magazine does need a name change. If you're called 'Black Mens Magazine' then you need to be on some next level shyt. I agree with the OP. Change the name to 'Fat Azz Monthly' or some shyt.

I remember that magazine when it first came out but Ive hardly seen it since then. It always rubbed me the wrong way because the women on the covers were always poorly airbrushed and their skin lightened.

it took a while but this is the correct answer. When you glance at the cover of a BMM and see that, that's what people think we are into. Just like when you flip through BET and see rap videos and booty shakin and fightin (old bet) vs family shows and music (new bet?) people think thats what we're about.

Maybe BET needs a name change. because while its entertaining (:yeshrug:) and the characters are black it dont think its fair to sum it up as 'black entertainment' we obviously know who its catered to (blacks) but obviously writing of the shows and the very very small types of shows they have dont sum us up. shyt I like CSI and Law and Order, Luther, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Always Sunny, and other shyts, excluding Luther because the main character is black, I cant get my fill of creative writing, character dynamics, action and comedy from the limited amount of primetime or even syndicated shows they have on that network.

Mens health to me is a white person publication, written for white men by white men it talks about all types of shyt, but like an earlier cat mentioned, which shaving or the perfect hair cut that shyt aint for us, we cant pull off the brad pitt shaving techniques or hair styles like idk alec baldwin or bradley cooper or some shyt.

There's nothing wrong with BET as those shows are classified as entertainment, and they do feature majority black casts. What we need is more black products(I define a black product as a show, movie, book, etc.) which has a majority black cast, written from a black person's point of view and funded by all sorts of people but mainly black people. We need more of that on television in GENERAL.

I don't think BET should exist, I think it should be amended into everything else. NBC should have more black sitcoms, CBS should have news programs with black journalists telling things from the black person's point of view, MTV should have more shows focusing on black music..you see where I'm going with this.

The idea that someone could have a magazine called "black men magazine" and have such limited content inside of it is insulting. We have a lot of black people running around these days that don't even realize when people are dissing them to their faces. Why doesn't a "white men" magazine exist? because white people can see themselves as individuals and realize that their interests cannot be diluted into a handful of subjects.

"Black Men magazine" should be a magazine that contains Rims and hoes but also many stories about successful black entrepeneurs, topics regarding HCBUs, Black owned businessess and their impact on the community, tips on how to be a good father, tips on how to be a good husband, information regarding the repairing of machinery, fitness tips, interviews with black athletes and entertainers, topics related to interracial dating, information on hair and skin care, fashion, etc.

I sincerely hope someone swoops in and buys that magazine, changes the name and applies the title to a magazine that actually represents us as black men in a more multidimensional light. Because there is more to us than hip hop, big booty bytches, and expensive vehicles and jewelry.

Deep in the south kickin uptop game
i can do without the watermelon but i do love booties and rims, like OP said though they need to broaden the content if they're gonna try to represent ALL Black men (which isnt even possible in one magazine)

I'm amazed at the amount of people completely missing the point here. He's not saying that rims, booty, and hip hop or whatever is bad. He's saying that a magazine that focuses on these things should not be called "Black Men magazine" Our interests as a gender in a race cannot be reduced down to a few things. He's right about this. Many people here are getting it twisted thinking he's in here hating on rims and hos when he's trying to argue that there is more to black men than that. The magazine should be called rims and hoes monthly or some shyt.

Magazines like that play to stereotypes of what white people and others assume that black people are. It makes it seem like we're one dimensional characters and if you want to know what the black male community thinks, just pick up an issue and read up on who the latest platinum selling rapper is and what the 2015 Escalade is going to look like :snoop:

Also people that are in here saying that there are "white" magazines are likely pointing to the fact that these magazines such as maxim feature content that caters to white people and ignores the interests of black men e.g. 5 different types of blonde model, articles written by white people that never mention racism, or race, accomplishments by people of color, or take a black perspective on certain issues.

Breh those "black men magazines" are nothing more than softcore porn mags. If you want good stories about black people, subscribe to black enterprise. They have great articles and content all the time.

We need to stop being ashamed of the things we like. We get around white people and try to deny things we like.

Exactly! nikkaz need to lose the "if it ain't white it ain't right mindset". I love big booty hoes, I love fried chicken, Rims are aight sometimes, I love hip-hop music of the gansta origin and I rock a du-rag when I get off work to keep my waves spinning. Be proud of who we are man. We can't even enjoy the small things in life without some Uncle Toms feeling insecure about it.

I agree with this point Chaucer, they should bring more perspective if they are going to call it Black Men's Magazine. They should change the name to something else or expand the subject matter.
