Black men magazine is a disgrace to me as a black man!

There's nothing wrong with BET as those shows are classified as entertainment, and they do feature majority black casts. What we need is more black products(I define a black product as a show, movie, book, etc.) which has a majority black cast, written from a black person's point of view and funded by all sorts of people but mainly black people. We need more of that on television in GENERAL.

I don't think BET should exist, I think it should be amended into everything else. NBC should have more black sitcoms, CBS should have news programs with black journalists telling things from the black person's point of view, MTV should have more shows focusing on black music..you see where I'm going with this.

The idea that someone could have a magazine called "black men magazine" and have such limited content inside of it is insulting. We have a lot of black people running around these days that don't even realize when people are dissing them to their faces. Why doesn't a "white men" magazine exist? because white people can see themselves as individuals and realize that their interests cannot be diluted into a handful of subjects.

"Black Men magazine" should be a magazine that contains Rims and hoes but also many stories about successful black entrepeneurs, topics regarding HCBUs, Black owned businessess and their impact on the community, tips on how to be a good father, tips on how to be a good husband, information regarding the repairing of machinery, fitness tips, interviews with black athletes and entertainers, topics related to interracial dating, information on hair and skin care, fashion, etc.

I sincerely hope someone swoops in and buys that magazine, changes the name and applies the title to a magazine that actually represents us as black men in a more multidimensional light. Because there is more to us than hip hop, big booty bytches, and expensive vehicles and jewelry.

Usually, men's magazines, like Playboy, will spend a couple hundred bucks to pay an author for a non-porn article. I had a business professor write a marketing article that got printed in Genesis magazine. Dude was semi-proud of it.

@ these comments. Like, y'all really REALLY don't see this shyt. Let me give you an example. I was on xbox live a couple months back playing bf3 with this one dude from california. Was talking to him about xgames that was in town there that weekend (sidenote.....kobe and wayne were out there too). The following convo went something like this....

Me: Yeah man, that xgames 2012 in your city, you didn't go?! * I start naming a few of the skaters from big air and telling him what happened in the events*
Him: Yeah I heard, may try and get out there next year though....not really into skateboarding
Me: Yeah its cool bruh, not really DEEP into it but would love to visit out there next year when they roll around and may even hit up E3 to get my hands on the new xbox
Him: slight pause......You sure you black man?!

Me: Why you ask that?! * Of course I already know MOSTLY why he asked but had to press him on an answer*

shyt was kind of awkward after that but I understood what he was saying but he shouldn't have said it. Not in the sense that it's offensive (it is) but it's also very sad. 2012 and we black men are still expected to be into bullshyt. Had I said I was hitting the dub car show, y'all already know I wouldn't have gotten the same response. It's not about HIM!!!!! fukk him. But what he said back to me wasn't just ignorant but also reinforced to me that we still have a long way to go before the world KNOWS black men as diverse!! Put a black dude in the movie titanic for once, where is the black avenger? Where are the black wallstreet tyc00ns? Where are the black nasa engineers? I don't want to have to search for them brehs! What I'm saying is that we should be embedded deep into this fukking society by now. We should be known for owning multimillion dollar homes, not poverty. We should be known for bringing up our kids, not having 3 kids and 3 baby momma's. We should be known for curing cancer, saving the lives of cancerous people, voting, going to college, being the token family on tv commercials, owning sites such as facebook, ebay, Aol. What I'm saying is i'm sick of my fukking perception!!! I'm different no doubt but I want a fukking army of black people to take the world by storm. No violent shyt, just straight up creep our ways deep into society to the point one day we won't notice those black commercials, ads, politicians as being black. A black man that is diverse in his interests, talent and languages SHOULD not be a oxy-moron.
