One thing I've never got is why pastors and stuff cant get regular jobs. IIRC Paul in the Bible made tents to earn his way. Why shouldn't they just get part time jobs?
I know a pastor who works part time. However, most still do groupthink with other pastors to help oppress their own people.

I'm not saying run them out, or even that they're worse than White churches, but there is an inherent usefulness in the Black church, and they're failing in an incredible way to utilise this.
Black churches are still large community centers than large chunks of the community feel tied to. If pastors and elder's weren't morons, they would have created vast networks set on building their communities, as well the greater Black diaspora.
There are a lot of churches, particularly Protestant churches, that are popping up in Haiti, Liberia, Congo, Nigeria, etc. that could very easily flex their muscles and break up corruption while working on various projects within their communities, but none of this is happening.

And yes, due to centuries of persecution and the melding of ethnicity and religion, Jewish peoples use their synagogue as community and religious centers, alongside schools, to ensure better chances of prosperity. Of course many urban Jews are still impoverished, but they carry a social capital due to their affiliations, and it helps push them to be overrepresented both as millionaires and billionaires, as well as in medicine, law, and academia.
Black churches could do the same; instead of attacking gay Black people and Black women having premarital sex, they could be attacking White supremacy and building up the subjugated members of their community.

Exactly and agreed with every last point. The Sephardic Jews fought for theirs in Israel (rights). Also, the Ashkenazi Jews fought for their free. Kinda like the Irish are still doing today. Black folk need to practice group economics and return to their tradition roots.

Basically it's a opioid huh. Something to keep them from raising up and breaking free, just remain in bliss.

When China wanted to break free of white imperialism they had to ban opioid use...
The ppl I'm referring to r not going to become "woke" (as if Christians can't be both) in the absence of faith. They r going to engage in self harm, become more stressed, lose a sense of community

The point is that just because you guys have deemed urselves to be "above" religion doesn't mean that it doesn't hold a valuable purpose for other black people. Are you going to listen to their daily life struggles, share meals witg them, invite them into your home for fellowship, laugh and cry with them , give them encouraging words after u drag them out of church?

There's humanist groups that do the same thing to be fair. My point is that we should go back to our roots.

P.S. I know you weren't responding to me.

A lot of them do work in addition to ministry. But being a pastor takes a lot of your time and comes with a lot of responsibility, particularly if u r fulfilling all ur pastoral duties. Visiting the sick and incarcerated, consoling families when someone dies, ministering and passing out tracks to ppl on the streets, checking up on members who have been absent, going to visiting churches for solidarity, teaching bible study, and so on. Not to mention that pastors also have families and Sunday service . Being a pastor can take up 7 days out ur week

Throughout this thread all you've done is offered alternatives to Christianity without making a concrete argument as to why any of those alternatives are better for black ppl. And "tradition " is not a valid reason

Besides finding answers in the Vatican the Ethiopian Bible has all the stories. I explained that before pages back.

Im not saying everybody needs to go out and attend church. However at one point the church was the center of the community and its no secret our community was much more unified then. One of our issues now is we have no center of the community that unifies us anymore

The Black Church has dissolved because they failed to switch tactics.

Its not a good thing that alot of Black churches have the same structure as they did 50, hell even 20 years ago.

Same bloodlines running the show. No women in real leadership roles. Still only focusing on charity but not transformation.
