Most Black people don't watch anime .

As kids, yeah, some of us might've dabbled into stuff like Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, etc, but once we reached a certain age in our teens and early adulthood, we moved past all that anime stuff.

Only the really nerdy (no offense to nerdy bruhs and sistas out there) and Black folks who are obsessed with Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc. culture (movies, TV shows, music, etc) assimilated and continued to be big fans, dressing up in costumes and shyt.

On social media, it may seem like we do but most of us either stopped watching it a long time ago or never watched in the first place.

So have you conducted a survey of some sort or have anything besides "trust me bro" to prove your point? If not I could easily make an opposing claim that holds just about the same weight as yours, which is none.

I'm confident enough to stand on the fact that most of us don't watch anime. Only specific types of Black folks (nerdy, emo, assimilated, etc) are avid anime watchers/fans; most Black people are not obsessed with Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc, culture like that.

I'm not saying the ones that do are c00ns or anything like that, but I'm saying it's definitely not that popular for most of us; it's kinda corny and “weird,” or better yet, “different.”

I'd say at least around 30-35%, which would be a decent amount of Black people in the US who'd be considered followers and fanatics of anime culture, cosplay, etc. Most of which likely consists of younger Black people in their teens and early-mid 20s. Outside of those who reign from these respective cultures, Cacs watch and obsess over anime, cosplaying, culturally vulturing, etc more than we do.

Dreamcon literally has it all from basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, wrestling, card games tournaments, video game tournaments, etc. Some of their biggest skits are their NBA locker room/sports skits.

My point is that white people have way more niche conventions to segment themselves off at.

I think the extra shyt happening there is goofy. The unfortunate part is that these black nets and shyt didn't make their own space. The RDC people did and they wanted to have twerking and other stupid shyt there. I think there's probably a financial ceiling on something that is strictly anime/manga and gaming. Pokémon’s net worth is something like $150 billion.

That with the NBA thriving in China while up until last year Pokémon has been banned in China.

That’s just Pokémon. Think of all the other anime’s and video games that are out there. Anime and video games are so much more popular than sports world wide that it’s not even a comparison to be honest.
