I think the extra shyt happening there is goofy. The unfortunate part is that these black nets and shyt didn't make their own space. The RDC people did and they wanted to have twerking and other stupid shyt there. I think there's probably a financial ceiling on something that is strictly anime/manga and gaming. Think the wrestling probably even has a place there. Now the all male revue dance teams and twerkoffs are goofy as shyt.

The actual nerds and geeks should make their own space and then it will be less likely to be co-opted by people looking for shyt to do between the Roots Picnic and Essence Fest.

And the nerds that made this convention partnered with HBCUs and D9s and as posted in this thread, promoted videos of D9s doing D9 shyt.

And truth be told a lot of white people don't want non-white people in these spaces. Some of the conventions have done work to create a more welcoming environment and they get a lot bullshyt complaints about the dumbest shyt.

That’s why RDC started this, they didn’t feel welcome at the other conventions and weren’t getting invites despite their popularity.

That’s what DreamCon is. It was never strictly anime. It reflects their videos/skits and was always about different aspects black and pop culture.

I get it, go to the convention and enjoy what the convention is about. Do that peacocking shyt somewhere else.

If the convention partners with D9s, has panels, rooms and promotes the peacocking, isn’t that a place to do the peacocking?

Cats acting like the creator of some anime was speaking in a conference hall and they just started doing this shyt. Some Ques dressed in cosplay did some quick shyt near the wall and people are clutching their pearls asking why they’re bad for black people.

Man, reading more into it and trying to get more familiar with how big the industry is, if RDC went full-on Anime culture and Expo they’d generate an insanely more amount of money. It’d blow out whatever they’re making now. The crowd purely for Anime, Video Games and artistry is a different tier world wide. Those are basically two of the biggest grossing and biggest growing industries right now and that’s with China banning it.

The fact that RDC wanted to include other aspects of Black culture though and not go full-on Anime and Video Games goes to show what they’re trying to do. They know they’re leaving a lot of money on the table and have made that decision. So of course with the culture being what it is there’ll be problems associated with it like the “disrespect” over the weekend and conflicts of interest. I do think some of the nerd crowd had to come to terms with that.
