Black people...search your feelings. Do we think reparations can be effectively fought for in 2020?

It's about getting a authentic Black Agenda on the platform. This is something black folks must do or we will completely disengage from the national political process

Does ADOS care about ending the drug war? that would undoubtedly help blacks
Does ADOS care about ending the prison industrial complex? that would undoubtedly help blacks
Does ADOS care about investing in public schools/education? That would help blacks

Not a fan of Kamala, but I never went after her for reparations. I've never gone against anyone for reparations

IDK, I just think that ADOS just wants money, and is ignoring any other policy that helps black ppl if it doesnt directly put money in their pockets.

I'm black and I'm not a hardliner on reparations. I already know imma be waiting a long ass time. I might as well Operation Grind & Stack like i have been instead of waiting on a policy that might not come to fruition.

What you think about posts like these?

We’re not worried about Trump, we’ve dealt with many different variations of “Trump” for 400 years. 4 more years of it won’t hurt us, scare tactics won’t work this time. If my politician can’t address my community by name or promise tangible benefits then let Trump win.

I find it interesting that it's even being brought up by national candidates, but what would reparations even look like at this point? A single payout, plots on federal lands, tax breaks? Without specifics this is just lip service/pandering, it's early in the campaign so we should reserve judgment until Warren/Harris put together their platform.
This is what I was thinking about.

Giving people land today would be a good idea, but how many of us know what to do with acreage. I’m not saying we couldn’t learn but the transition would be generational

Money is the easy answer, but if we’re honest some of us would just spend it on things that hold no real value.

I would like to see programs that aim to close the generational wealth gap.

Trump is in office because democrats were pushing this nutty scheme to grant citizenship to 11 million illegal immigrants and non enforcement of us immigration laws to make the us essentially an open borders bilingual country

Yet democrats are willing to shut down the government and are still pursuing the same exact policies that created trump

So who is really the stupid person and political naive person here? And Why are people willing to sacrifice political capital for non citizens but won't do it for actual citizens? Where people having similar incredulous reactions when democrats came out for gay marriage and now continue pushing a gay rights agenda?
Quoted for emphasis. Think about that shyt.

We are not getting reparations. Any candidate who supports this will lose in the general. Most of the country opposes reparations, most democrats oppose reparations,

Most of those same people opposed socialism. Now look at them. Mind you those are the same people who were all excited about a post-racial America too.

and 35% of black people oppose it

Are they Costa Rican? :sas2:

If black people would band together behind this issue and vote for the party that promises to do this, and not vote for any party that doesn't, it would absolutely get done. Democrats have no hope of winning without the black vote.
Why do ppl kept saying this? The only way this works is Blacks act as a monolith and every eligible voter votes.

Isnt the main argument against Democrats that we arent a monolith and they expect us to vote Democrat by default?

It's not even about reparations to me, all though I support it, but having a real black agenda other than prison reform. If a politician is scared to talk about black issues specifically, then they get the fukk out my face with some immigration, environment bullshyt.

I think something like the Native Americans got is plausible, you might not see them often but they make billions and everyone from the tribe gets a check every month.

Those voters they would lose would not go vote Democrat though. They would go to a racist 3rd party that can't win a national election, or they would stay home. The next election cycle, when reparations are no longer an issue because it's already been passed, those voters may come back, but black people are still voting Republican.

I think a lot of Republican voters, even if they don't agree with reparations, would see it as a mercenary move to make sure their other interests get passed. By allying with black people, conservative views on things such as lgbt specifically t agenda, gun rights, illegal immigration, abortion (black people are the most religious group in the country), etc can now have the upper hand.

Republicans as a modern day party is a response to the passage of black civil rights. For some of the Dixiecrats, who now vote Republican, it goes back to the Civil War.

You will find antiblack resentment is at the heart of many Republican policies and segments. Small government, states rights, evengelical movement etc.
