Obsessing over EVERY LITTLE racist incident and EVERY little thing said some bigoted pundit says it is just as unhealthy.

I honestly just see this thread as another means to deem colorism as "not that important."Colorism really does not affect black men the way it does black women.A thread like this would never be made about racism(which is why you made it about colorism).I think it is important & I think discussion about it is necessary.

Not as much as Black women though. Many talk as though as if is a top 1 or 2 issue in the Black community when it isn't.

Of course it's not.

Nothing that exclusively affects black women are "major concerns," or "major issues."Only things that plague black men are seen as "important," in the black community.& That's where our attention needs to be focused.

...I hate to even address this but I feel the need to. While many men have a preference for you lighter skinned females it doesn't mean ALL men have that preference. These "standards" and beliefs and color, facial features and feminine attractiveness come from society at not and not solely the hearts and minds of Black men. And because you are dark skin doesn't mean that you won't find a man or even a slew of men that find you attractive maybe even for the simple fact that you are of a darker hue. Colorism is systemic issue and just like racism its not going away anytime soon so you are going to have to learn how to navigate your way around it and survive while it exist around you. By the way it adversely effects dark skin men as well!

Nope.....not even. Just look at the things Black men on twitter post related to skin color and compare them to the things Black women post skin color. The negative remarks made by Black men far outweigh the things said by Black Women. Does Twitter encompass Black society as a whole? No.......but things said on there can't be discounted.

keep pretending it's black men that created colorism/light skinned preference and not the white men you're running towards but you didn't answer my question, what exactly is there to discuss? how are you fighting against it?

the only way to combat colorism is to promote beautiful dark skinned black women against biracial/light skinned/non-black women. but you're kinda dense and think the best way to combat colorism is to have a biracial daughter that'll have some other black girl feeling self conscious about herself.

Colorism isn't nearly as a big issue as racism and niether issue is going away so why obsess over it to the point that it becomes brow beating..

This is quite untrue. You talk as though racism and colorism exist in different realms. What is worse being told your not particularly attractive because of your complexion (something quite subjective) or being say, murdered by a "model citizen" for an assumption he held about people who belong to your race?

Colorism affects Black Women and Men...its a byproduct of Racism, putting one hue of color over another. The only problem is that in order to fight colorism, you will have to fight racism which means you will have to be an enemy of the white man....Black women are not doing that nowadays.
