Yes and no. Garnett was a huge role model and mentor to McCants, but the team had McCants' back even when it was undeserved. They gave up or passed on better talents because they always felt McCants could change. He still hasn't changed. He'll get signed to a training camp deal and then some shyt pops up which causes him to leave and then he doesn't come back. That's just weird.
and let's be clear, McCants didn't get drafted into a shytty situation. He was drafted onto a team that won 45 games that year. Part of why they went on their way down was his microfracture surgery and then his moodiness.
The Barry Bonds being blackballed stuff is way overblown for several reasons that people refuse to accept around here.

I think teams just decided Barry Bonds wasn't worth the trouble. He was still productive but he was facing those perjury charges and no team really wanted to be a part of that. There was also the general consensus that he expected a lot of special treatment and detracted from the team vibe. When he was in god mode no one cared but as he was tiptoeing into 
status, they were done with him. I would have been cool with the Giants re-signing him but I don't know if he was willing to take a pay cut or what but he seemed to just sit back and expect teams to bang down his door to sign him. Given the situation, he probably would have needed to make a non Barry Bonds move and show some humility and eagerness to take a cheap deal as a backup. Still, the pending jailtime was going to be a problem.
As for Crittenton, I don't think he was blackballed, he just wasn't very good.
Delonte West is a guy that currently gets blackballed. I don't know how the guy has trouble even finding minimum deals. He should be getting at least the mini MLE from someone. Once again, he's a free agent and no one cares.

Tim Hardaway still has a job for the Heat, Tj Ford has played every season he was in the NBA except when injured, Big Dog got a ring wit San Antonio and retired, who the fukk is Ronald Dupree to be blackballed, and i know Brevin Knight played at least 10-12 years in the league. BLACKBALLED means hear today gone tomorrow never heard from again aka RASHAD MCCANTS. You can't tell me that Mccants couldnt be what JJ Redikk does. I know he's not a superstar but that man is an excellent three point shooter and i feel like on a team like Chi or Boston he would produce.
