Pops is half S.African but I only started visiting the place 4 years ago. I was floored with the amount of real estate under his portfolio...:obama:

Africa is a hot bed of opportunity but it does face some severe challenges especially with infrastructure and the power supply and widespread corruption (thinking of the time we were stopped in traffic in Zimbabwe and had to ante up cash at every single roadblock) :whatever:

This is why it would be a well informed, well thought out decision for me! :ohlawd: I've watched alot of the war docs as well. I'm the type of person that would know the area like the back of my hand before ever even visiting it! :to:

I would weigh the pros and cons and only go if it made sense and I could visualize myself prospering!

so much naivete in this thread.....smh

I know so many dudes that went to Africa and came back to Europe or the states having lost their money....

I actually do business in Africa and as I posted in an earlier thread Im about to be given a $3,000,000 investment to start my own company....

If you cannot make it in Europe or the States you definitely wont make it in Africa...dont kid yourselves.....

Anyone who thinks that the Africans are going to be the ones exploited hasnt got a clue, you think Africans are scamming you over here? wait till you get there

This is what organizations like the NOI and the followers of Marcus Garvey BEEN talking about. Why stay in a country where your race has to be something you think about on a daily basis and that can hold you back? live in Africa, bring the skills you have learned in America and use them to develop the land of your ancestors and create a new home where you don't have to deal with white racists.

As a Nigerian expat I think that black people have been scared off from going there due to the North American and European media that paint Africa as some sort of hopeless hellhole. This works in the interest of white people to keep exploiting black people either as prison fodder, entertainment, or to underpay them in the corporate world. These western powers were built on scapegoats and free labour. They have an interest in keeping black people around as scapegoats, and as people who will work for less pay. If even 90% of black americans returned to Africa, the USA would tear itself apart.

And just to clarify, I'm not saying its all sunshine and roses in the continent, but there are places where you can set up business and do well. To know which countries to invest in--that is countries that already have some level of stability. Use the Mo ibrahim index

i think if african americans want to go to africa to be among their people and help them, then that is fine. if you are going just to make money and profit, then you really aren't any better than the people who colonized them.

if you go to be with your people and just so happen to make money in the process, then that is fine.

Breh nothing beats actually going there and seeing for yourself. If you find a democratic country in Africa with no apparent risk of civil war or crazy jealous government.. the go ahead. I cannot stress the need for due dilligence though...the struggle is real outchea...

Nice, what industry are you in ? $3 mill is a lot of confidence for a startup unless you've had a strong history in your field. Still kudos....

Is polygamy welcomed there? I want to be able to live with multiple girlfriends without being endlessly persecuted.

Yea I would visit before I move and I know the possibility of war or rebellion is very real and ever present. I'm just saying I'm stewardly about decisions. Especially one that big. I would know ALL I could find out on the subject before embarking on anything. I hear what you're saying 100%!

It's why I try my best to avoid Africa threads on this site :whew:

except for the one in HL

exactly. these cats are gonna try and fulfill their white man fantasies

That's beyond fukked up that even on a hip-hop site you can't make a positive thread about black women or Africa without supposed black people wanting to fukk it up.

It makes me wonder how many of our friends and family think that way about Africa and black people too. Honestly growing up with a father who constantly and daily stressed that we love Africa, love being black, and take pride in our African heritage is making me realize how fukking lucky I was. He was a hard man to be around, but just knowing that I was able to avoid the self hatred make me respect him even more :to:
