:whoa:

my problem was you say this

Then you go on to explain the elaborate complexity of the 58 different countries within Africa. We can't say if you dont make it in America you have no shot in 50 some odd countries. The drive for each individual is different, some people just aint cut out for the American lifestyle, especially if you arent your own boss. You said it best yourself

If you take all the above qualities why can't someone who hasnt done it in the US or Europe go to Africa and be successful, as they define success? I highly doubt anybody here thinks they're going to go anywhere on this Earth and receive handouts for being from a certain country, as you imply. Everyone understands there's a certain level of worth ethic, capital, and innovation that must go into operating in another country.

This is the problem you are assuming that Africa is filled with people that were successful in the West deciding to come back and set up business..

what you tend to find are a lot of people that got fed up because they couldnt make it in the States or Europe thinking, Ill go to Africa it will be much easier to make my fortune or be successful .......

what they and you dont realise is conducting business across Africa is much more difficult than in the Western world...what I can do In a day In the States generally will take me five days in Africa....

The business enviroment is much more hostile which is why I said if you couldnt make it in America where it is much easier to run a business and be successful you definitly wont make it in Africa....

Also when I was referring to each country is different the point I was making that people tend to assume that whatever they have been told about one African country applies to all, it may seem silly but Ive come across it a million times when people assume because they know the property laws in South Africa this is somehow applicable in the Gabon

:snoop: Alright man, the problem is we are talking two different kinds of business but I wont continue running circles with you. Continue to educate the masses with all the knowledge you've accumulated.

Normally I'd be cool with this but I don't know about South Africa. The black majority own NOTHING and white, Indians and Chinese minorities have all the wealth off their backs. My beliefs are Pan-African but black SA's have been exploited enough this isn't right.

This article elaborates.

I had a real wake up call when I went there....It wasnt a happy experience seeing it but when you look at it in perspective the whites have been running shyt in South Africa since forever so its gonna take a while for them to catch up and level the playing field,

That's beyond fukked up that even on a hip-hop site you can't make a positive thread about black women or Africa without supposed black people wanting to fukk it up.

It makes me wonder how many of our friends and family think that way about Africa and black people too. Honestly growing up with a father who constantly and daily stressed that we love Africa, love being black, and take pride in our African heritage is making me realize how fukking lucky I was. He was a hard man to be around, but just knowing that I was able to avoid the self hatred make me respect him even more :to:

white people in black faces breh

OCCUPY SOUTH AFRICA | No Black in the Rainbow | White racism in SA | Economic Apartheid

thanks for this article, but shyt like this has me :birdman:

Although my father was telling me it's getting better for black people in South Africa, and they're doing business with a lot of the rich black people in other countries in Africa. I'm not worried about the Indians/Chinese(very small part of the population) and I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about the state of black people in Africa in the future :obama:

Brehs, Check out East Africa. Tanzania is literally shytting out Gold and there are so few people who know it. In the next 2 years ill be moving back there permantely to help my country come up. The U.S. has also taken a keen interest in us because of our vast resources and strategic location, which has me very very nervous. None the less, we'll see.

But what most people don't understand is most of the industries in these African countries are on the ground floor. So a bright idea with the right execution could mean millions, and I'd spend it all on rebuilding the country back up

If this is true, this legitimately has me down, the country is mostly black, yet all the images of the country and wealth is not represented by them. :damn: It's basically our communities here x12 over there. :to:

W/ that said this is still a great thread, here's what it sums up

1. Moving to Africa(assuming you have something to offer and a work ethic like Nemesis said)

2. Once you do that, trade w/ other blacks and build actual communities, basically most of the trade happens between people that reside in the community, and a good deal of that money is used to further develop the community.

3. Colonialism/Slavery's effects run rampant and many blacks are still suffering it, whether it's the Caribean; the States, or Africa. Self-hate, feeling inferior, or downright being low on the economic tier is a problem w/ us.

I've known several African Americans who have moved to Africa (Ghana, mostly). One really put me up on game, an older Black woman. She was really encouraging, and has lived there for many years now. There's a company there where if you intend to build a house, you can get land. It has been set aside for those of us in the Diaspora. You have to build it within a certain time frame or you forfeit your spot.

I learned one of my ancestors on my father's side was from Ghana after the fact but I still can't get past the 99 year lease thing nor how the gov't treats some people who have been there decades and contributed so much while giving a pass (path to citizenship) to "other" people. And I don't mean preferential treatment, I mean they aren't following their own immigration policy...for some people.

There is NOTHING wrong with just doing fair business there. It isn't all about NGOs and aid (which has a way of ending up in the wrong hands if you're not hands on or do your research). Just like here, stimulating the economy and doing business is a positive. Plus, people are always watching..if you take a risk it may really pay off big and before long there will be competition (which is good).

i think if african americans want to go to africa to be among their people and help them, then that is fine. if you are going just to make money and profit, then you really aren't any better than the people who colonized them.

This is a dumb way of thinking. Even if you are just motivated by profit, going there and setting up a business or building infrastructure helps Africans by providing them with jobs and inching their lives closer to Western modernity. It's mutually beneficial.
