I agree with their points.
I bear no grudge to Adele, but groupthink is a muthafukka. The poster is 100% right. Most people are casual listeners. They do no "crate digging" as they mentioned, hence their entire perception of music is what corporations feed them.

That is detrimental to ALL art forms.

Agreed.

Dude is 100% right, and that point about R. Kelly "Ignition" is 1000000% TRUE. Same with the Beyonce comment. She hasn't been R&B ffor me personally, since "Me Mysefl & I"...

I have no problem with Adele being the "queen of soul", IF---IF she was the most talented. But the reality is, there's black female singers out there with big voices who are ignored.

You cannot ignore the racial element that exists with Adele. A great song with soul lyrics and passsionate singing like "Shame" from Tyrese probably sold 20,000 SINGLES and Adele comes out with her song and sells 3 million whole ALBUMS. The whole world knows who Tyrese is, so it's not like he's a nobody.

And talk about ignorance. Label Beyonce's music cookie cutter while propping up James Fauntleroy when he co-wrote several songs from her latest album.

All the more reason that Fauntleroy should get a look from ppl.

Granted he prob gives away his best songs to other artists b/c he himself doesn't have the "image" to be an artist. But who's fault is that?

Adele has proven that you dont have to look like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera circa 1999 to sell records. But when do Black artists get to go back to the Luther Vandross look and stil be popular?

its not about CRATE DIGGING tho..

This is about what is pushed to the forefront. If Adele and her songs getting bumped and all we got to offer being pushed to the forefront is trash, how can we be mad she winning?

Why throw Beyonce under the bus? That's counterproductive. You're talking about how Black female singers out there with big voices who are ignored, but you just threw Beyonce under the bus. The same way that the Twitter rant threw Beyonce under the bus.

Tyrese and Adele aren't even aiming for the same base. Tyrese even when he was making music that was more in tune with the Usher's and Ginuwine's never was as big as them and they were targeting some of the same markets. People are comparing apples and oranges just to justify why one singer isn't as successful as the other.

This is what I don't get. You're calling out Black people for liking Adele's music, but then completely throw Beyonce under the bus. Then you prop up James Fauntleroy (who is more of a songwriter than he is a recording artist). All this boils down to is "I'm going to hate this popular artist and I'm going to use race to justify why you should hate them too. I also hate this popular artist because they don't make the type of music I feel they should be making, so I'm going to justify it by saying they make music that makes an entire race look bad. Last, here's an artist that I do like, but because the artists I don't like are popular, the artists that I do like remains underrated and overlooked".

You're missing his point. He's not mad at blacks people for liking Adele. He's amazed at how urban soul has disappeared from the palms of black folks on a commercial scale. He rarely tweets now but if you go to his page you'll see he's not some one dimensional pro black race baiter.

This is a dude btw guys. Reason I posted this is that the accuracy was really amazing. Managed to get his point across without looking racist, salty, or preachy. If you think he's angry you're probably one of the people he's talking about when he says "people with poor comprehension skills"

That's really all this is. It's nikkas trying hard to be "Oh I'm not a sheep. I disagree with the popular crowd"

Look? James Fauntleroy is one of the most successful songwriters in the industry. He co-wrote on three of the biggest albums of 2013. He's a part of Cocaine 80's and also works closely with Timbaland (most of the Pop records he's produced since 2010, Fauntleroy wrote or co-wrote). I'm not even sure if he even wants to be a recording artist.

Adele is not the standard. She's one successful artist out of a sea of other successful artists who fit the standard. That's why we won't be seeing an influx of artists who are heavier being as successful as Adele.

Urban Soul hasn't disappeared. It's just not what he wants it to be. The artists that get praised as Urban Soul were already being marginalized by Urban Pop artists who were making records that crossed over or made mainstream cross over to them.
