I will even throw in Jennifer Hudson, who probably has the best voice out of the bunch. Black radio gives them a push, white radio doesn't, once you get that white audience, that's when they reach the next level. Mary J. Blige has made it to an extent, but there are not a lot of examples out there. Black radio plays white "soul artists" all of the time. It's always been that way. Teena Marie, Lisa Stansfield, Timberlake, Robin Thicke, Adele. White radio will play Usher and Chris Brown and Beyonce, but not any of the female artists you stated earlier.
