Trading for CJ alone buys him another year as they don't let him make that move without assurances that he'll be back next year especially with giving up a lottery pick to do so. Gayle Benson doesn't know what she's doing and is perfectly fine with letting him mortgage future assets for a Big 3 that isn't going to move the needle like that and change their fortunes.

If/when Zion still wants out, then they're stuck with the CJ contract and nothing to show for it.
