The one where Steph became the face of a whole new style of basketball and is considered the key figure in driving the way the game is currently being played. :yeshrug:

Steph has played in like 5 finals yet has only 1 finals mvp. Dont care about the style of play. Except for shooting ability, Kobe was a way more skilled basketball player by a country mile.

Kobe was being debated as the greatest of all time so many times throughout his career, and was constantly being compared to Jordan/Lebron before that "Jordan tried to use Kobe as a shield" narrative you trying to push.

Stop lying Kobe was NEVER debated as the greatest of all time are you crazy?

:what:

Back then they compared alot of people to MJ but Kobe took it to another level

He was constantly compared to Jordan because Kobe BIT HIS WHOLE STYLE.

The shyt was FLAGRANT BITING AT A HERCULEAN LEVEL.

Nikka what? Nobody is lying. You are either way too young, you was not outside back then, a hater, or just simply not keep up to date with the conversations.

I got Jordan over Kobe, but to say there was no conversations surrounding Kobe being the GOAT is crazy, when I lived through it. How are you going to tell me the conversations I heard through the media, playing basketball at the park, school, the barbershop, etc were all in my head? :dead:

A lot of people favorite player was Kobe, and naturally some of them put him in the GOAT conversation. Before Lebron James took over, it was Kobe who was in those conversations next to Jordan and who was the best. I agree with you that people was saying he was "biting Jordan whole style", but that conversation was included right along with GOAT debates.

I'm old I remember the narratives dawg

Nobody ever said Kobe was the GOAT

NEVER...

EVER...

They say he's an all time great but never has he been discussed as the GOAT

The GOAT conversations are between LeBron and MJ

No one ever said "Kobe and Shaq" back then
it was always "Shaq and Kobe". Word to Nelly on Country Grammar

Nah we said “Kobe and Shaq”. First of all, it’s easier to say. Second of all, Kobe was more popular to kids than Shaq. You would’ve got clowned wearing Shaq sneakers at school.

I mean its hard to deny that is partly true. Would former players like Gilbert Arenas and Tracy McGrady have made the statements about Kobe recently if he were alive?

Part of it could be we are in the hot-take era, but gilbert arenas (nor anybody else) was NOT saying Kobe was looked at as the next pippen after the 3-peat, when Kobe was alive.

Kobe would’ve slapped Gil and called him a bum to his face. It’s easy to talk about a dead man. Lastly, @Remote is a Duncan Stan, so you know he’s lame off rip. He had to watch Kobe beat San Antonio multiple times in the mid to late 2000s and he never got over it.

Unlike you stans I don’t hold these strong opinions about player rankings.

lol.

I’m focused on what the Spurs will do this coming season. Whatever Robinson or Manu or Duncan or Parker did 25 years ago doesn’t live in my mind.

The same cannot be said for a certain subset of the Purple and Gold.

You all ought to live in the present and enjoy the talent you’re watching today, instead of playing that Bruce Springsteen Glory Days on repeat like some goofy who peaked in high school.
