Remember when Prince died? He had the world wearing purple. That’s the “impossible standard,” we used to celebrate. Muhammad Ali? David Bowie? Even Hulk Hogan.

Kirk wasn’t that at all.
I understand that. That's ultimately what @KFBF is saying. I'm still saying I reject that because that's not what you honor.

What Kirk was is famous to those on a certain algorithm. Like when Kevin Samuel died.
I don’t know if it’s something you can reject.

Kevin Samuel was Black and represented a minor sector that was really only relevant to a certain demographic. Charlie Kirk was White, a Christian-Nationalist and represented an ever-growing, uninhibited Conservative demographic that’s sweeping the globe. That’s why his death resonated with so many. I think you’re completely underestimating just how widespread that algorithm he existed on is. Turning Point USA’s reach was not only expanding to different countries, but places like South Korea actually hot-lined-hot-songed his shyt and now have their own Conservative enterprise indoctrinating young people based entirely off what he created.

Further to that, many of whom are honoring him don’t even really who he was, but it’s the representation they see of who is endorsing him. Many are using his death for their own [Nationalist] cause. There’s civil unrest everywhere across the world, in regards to immigration, crime and LGBT, and since folks are already on a political knife’s edge, it only makes sense when they see someone killed, who was fighting the same fight as they are, they’re going to feel some type of way about it. They see him as a martyr for what they’re currently going through.

That’s why I say it’s less about honoring him and more honoring what they’re fighting for.

Does your team have a Black majority owner :jbhmm:

Yes, it's fukking weird :martin:
Who made that arbitrary shyt a requirement? I bet youre the type who follows players rather than teams.

Nothing wrong with fan loyalty to a team. That is human, but with shyt out here being as serious as it is for Black folk in time where we are an ill-informed Black community in knowing who is who in the white supremacist sphere, many learning of racist figures for the first time after having $200m poured into their anti black leanings, seeing funding cuts to HBCUs, and you think you found something playing “gotcha” on me around your weak version of a black male being about it. :camby:

fukk outta here . You dont know shyt to be using team loyalty to bemoan black folks in here.

Just take this for example @mastermind -
Tens of thousands of people took part in a "Unite the Kingdom" rally in London, England, on Saturday, where demonstrators also honored Charlie Kirk with some holding pictures and banners of the late conservative activist.

Organizers played a heartwarming tribute video to Kirk that included a viral clip of him giving life advice to a 13-year-old girl at a Turning Point USA event.

The rally was organized by activist Tommy Robinson, who said the video was shown to thank and "honor the life of one of our generation’s greatest." Elon Musk also appeared via video link and condemned the left as "the party of murder" following Kirk’s death.

Robinson billed the march as a demonstration for free speech, saying it was also held in defense of British heritage and culture.

"A man who inspired a generation of young men based on courage and based on faith," Robinson told the cheering crowd, which also sang Kirk’s name.

"In honor of Charlie Kirk and in honor of freedom on the 13th we march," Robinson wrote in a social media post earlier in the week.

One demonstrator carried a sign reading, "Freedom of speech is dead. RIP Charlie Kirk," according to The Associated Press.

Aerial shots showed streams of demonstrators carrying the red and white St. George's Cross flag of England and the Union Jack. Many chanted, "We want our country back!"
“We want our country back!”

Sound eerily familiar?

I bet the overwhelming majority of those 100+k didn’t even know who Kirk was prior to his death, but when they found out he was killed and propaganda of it being due to the ‘radical Left’, that’s all they needed to use as a match to light their fire.

My point with comparing him to Samuels is that Kirk was a star on that algorithm the same way Samuels was on his.

A lot of people who attended those games those games this weekend, didn’t know who Charlie Kirk was Wednesday morning. He was only popular among a certain sect. And despite what you wrote and what you are seeing online, Christian nationalism isn’t popular. Every time people in this country have the chance to vote for abortion access as a ballot measure, people vote for abortion access. It’s not popular.

Kirk was gaining traction with white kids and that is lost, although they will find another plant to put in his place, and that is emerging. However it’s not popular, especially not to warrant a moment of fukking silence at a sporting event.

you still ain’t understanding what my point is. I’m aware the people in power want to celebrate him, but that dude was not popular.

In fact, and UK brehs can correct me, Tommy Robinson is more well known in the UK than Charlie Kirk was here.

I am not ignoring what the is billionaires fascist plot is. My only point is Kirk wasn’t well known or revered enough to deserve any of this.
