That, and we have an economy in shambles.
For the first time in my life, I don't know a single person that bought the 'new console'.
Mario Kart and Donkey Kong didn't feel like console movers to me.
A new Mario game or Zelda game might have moved me.
I'll definitely cop when a new Smash Bros comes out.

Think there's a generational element at play too.
Boomers - no
Gen X - their kids are all grown. The ones who game are mostly PC/PS5 etc. They in their late 40s to early 60s. Nintendo handheld probably isn't their thing...even though they were the generation that made Nintendo big.
Millenials/Gen Z - if they got money and wanted it, they already bought it. What's left are those that can't afford it AND those who can...but don't want it.
Gen Alpha - they stuck in that Roblox/Minecraft world. Platform doesn't mean shyt to them. Phone, tablet....whatever console their parents have. Unlike Gen X and Millenials parents (Boomers & Silent Gen), Gen Alpha has parents that game. That means they don't really have to ask for a console or game device because Mom and Dad are gamers too.

They need a big Mario game and Zelda.
Pokémon being 2027 is also gonna hurt. Nintendo don’t have those big 10 million sellers like year one of switch
