Cole wishes he had an ounce of the creativity, depth wit and ambition Blu has. Or he doesn't cuz his shyt Gold and Blu in label limbo (I forget the Warner story) and very few cats I know mess with dude.
But NoYork, BTH, J&J, Give Me My Flowers, all of the Soul Amazing tapes, HerFavColor, shyt even Jesus >>>>>> Cole's discography IMO

Eh? He released most of his shyt unmastered for sale, and then later it was remastered/sold officially. It's a pattern for him, going back years. I can't fukk with him anymore.
Lo-fi is actually a "thing" now. Sounds dumb, but a lot of UG heads nh like it that way. It's a weird hipster trend with an audience. There might be something more sinister at play, but it's popular.
Like Give Me My Flowers - the first one we got was Blu's edition and the second was Exile's.

Blu, one of the greatest rappers to ever pick up a microphone blu. Superior technically and musically than Jcole yes he is. I have so many Blu songs on my phone, i believe over 100 and let me see how many j.cole songs i have.

Interesting, zero.

But there's a difference between the lo fi genre (usually indie rock or metal) and shyt that isn't even mixtape quality audibly. That's my problem with it. 36 Chambers is kind of lo fi if you think about it/play it in the whip, and isn't mastered perfectly. But it still sounds good. My problem with Blu is that dude is having his vocals sound horrible due to all that static or whatever, clipping, etc. :what:

you got a DOOM avatar so you've heard some stuff that isn't mastered well, like his first album. But that shyt still sounds good, vocals are clean outside of on a couple tracks, etc.

There was an article I read a few weeks back where Tyler was complaining about his mixing or something and it was kinda embracing all of that, and the return of lo-fi in ironic form. Gotta find it.
Maybe it's cuz I don't have great headphones, but I was cool with all his "lo-fi" shyt. The skill & vision is still there.
I do pretend UCLA never happened, though.

Post me a classic song/classic verse:skip:

Blu doesn't have the acclaim other rappers get, but is there really anything he can't do as an emcee? His adlib game, bars, storytelling, choruses, flows etc are all dope as fukk.

:whew:

In a sense... Cole should be here. Blu's more conventional work is sample-heavy, with a lot of everyman substance and religious undertones. Cole just bland, more surface-level and more "safe".
