It's smart. 1. They have to start differentiating themselves from Marvel, and 2. DC's more diverse projects have been their most successful. I mean, anyone questioning why they are doing Birds of Prey or the new Batwoman and Stargirl shows needs to look into just how big DC Superhero Girls has been for them.

The mere concept of Blue Beetle lets them do something a little from the norm. An alien invasion story starring a Latino kid growing up in El Paso, Texas? We don't get movies like that period, let alone supehero flicks.


Every time a Blue Beetle anything comes up at DC, no one even questions who they're talking about at this point.

Streets got nothing but love for young Reyes.
