Signing with a Major is probably good idea for him...

It is true almost always the key to being rich is owning your own business BUT 98% of people dont own their own business and probably 70% of people should not own their own business.

If Bobby Shmurda isnt:

• Good with Organization and Prioritization
• Good with Tactical and Strategic Planning
• Good with Finances
• Good with consistently producing marketable quality product
• Good Networking and managing Industry Connections
• Strong Business Acumen
• Consistent Strong Work Ethic
• Not in need of short term (5 year) financial support

If he aint got all of those qualities he should not be independent. Especially if he is young. If you are young without guidance signing a record deal and just chalking up the next 5 years as a paid learning experience is not a bad idea...
especially if you got a trial over your head and no funds to pay the lawyers might make sense to spend 5 years owned by the label rather than 5 years in prison...

just saying it aint as simple as everyone should go independent.

This is also another indictment on the death of A&R departments. Bobby is the type of artist a A&R would put on his "let's see where you are in 6 months" list, and move on. Just to see if the dance is a fad, if he can actually make another record, etc. But now that A&Rs are pretty much dead, labels just wait until someone bubbles up online, and then throw cash at them - not even knowing if they're throwing cash at a one hit wonder (Trinidad) or a no hot wonder (Bobby).

Secondly, people are saying his buzz won't last for long. Isn't that THE best reason to sign to a major? Being able to get that distribution, push, radio spins etc?

He did drop a tape two weeks ago, it's been downloaded over 165,000 times on AudioMack and it features the next song he's shooting a video for Computers. That shyt was stickied on the Coli for a whole week and has hundreds of replies.
