What are some good stocks to invest in with $7k of play money ?

I'm not looking to make a quick buck either, I am willing to invest long term as long as I can make atleast double my money preferably $20,000 before the end of the year. I'm not sure if that's realistic or not with $7k though I may be able to up to $12k by June.
