Controversial crypto company Longfin says accounting firm has resigned amid SEC investigation

• On Thursday, April 5, Longfin said it was notified that public accounting firm CohnReznick would no longer work with the company, effective immediately, according to an 8-K filing Monday with the SEC.
• The accounting firm also told Longfin "that material weaknesses in internal control over financial reporting existed," the filing said.
• The news comes one business day after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said it has frozen $27 million in proceeds from insider stock sales

If we're going to be sent into a freefall with every mention of tariffs I can't really stay very bullish. Hopefully china and the US can sit down and discuss this instead of these threats. Would be better for everyone and seems like a simple solution.

A trade war in the context of a tightening Fed is not a pleasant backdrop for equities. I'm not so sure that the tariffs are the underlying cause and rather are the catalyst for investors re-examining the environment.

If Xi is smart and wants to bet on Trump gaining re-election, a not so terrible strategy would be to give him a facade win for now to throw to his base and see if you can engineer another 4 years of incompetent leadership to continue to bleed this country dry long-term. The Chinese have been thinking long-term, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a tactical concession within this current trade fight going on.
