They are selling them by monthly payments. People are stupid and will continue to make these payments.
in wealthy nations will play into the payment game...places where money is scarce or they haven't been indoctrinated into apple, the other phone makers are thriving.

How many of the android companies have a market cap over a trillion dollars..
not sure how that's relevant to the point people were making about apple's hardware growth, and google is pretty close and they're one of the biggest droid players. if anything in evaluating apple, it's all about services...gotta look at how those can get into various world markets and how they will compete long term - especially streaming/content

For Apple to really flourish in emerging markets then they'd either need to either

1. Open their software and allow 3rd party support in the same way Android does or
2. Invest heavily in support services.

When you buy into Apple, you buy into their ecosystem. For the most part, any repairs or upgrades needs to go through them. Part of that is having proximity to Apple Support. In a country like India or Nigeria, the local market may not be able to sustain multiple Apple stores. So outside of the high brow areas, most people would have to go to 3rd parties to service their phones. If after sales services are factored into the expected return from a single consumer, then in the long run Apple would be short changing themselves.

Just an observation.

Martin Shkreli posted this on his blog in August:
"The next five or ten years of biopharma investing is basically all about gene therapy. After AVXS, who knows what is possible. Abeona (ABEO), Axovant (AXON), Audentes (BOLD), BioMarin (BMRN), Oxford, PTC (PTCT), Spark (ONCE), UniQure (QURE), Rocket (RCKT), Sangamo (SGMO), RGNX, Sarepta (SRPT), Solid (SLDB), Ultragenyx (RARE), Voyager (VYGR) are all players. My guess is an equal-weighted or capitalization-weighted index of the above would outperform pretty much any other index. "

Spark just got bought for a 120% premium.

He's also very bullish on GBT.

I'd have to look deeper into it but there's some compelling names there.

Have some cash, and don't feel comfortable re-upping on my long term funds as they're all near 52-week highs.

I might roll the dice on a handful of these high cap stocks as they're mostly trading at a ~50% discount from their 52-week highs.

I gotta thank the homie @Domingo Halliburton. That post been a gold mine :wow:

My positions at the moment:
SRPT +48% (took off today)
GBT +62%
AAXN - stop loss triggered to secure a 40% gain. Bought RARE and ALXN with the proceedings which are +8%, and -3% currently.
BMRN lagging behind @ +6%

I wish Shkreli's blog was still up. He got in trouble sneaking a phone into jail. I think that's the problem. Godaddy doesnt host his blog anymore.

Ive been busy with it getting close to the holidays and traveling. I'll try to post more soon..

Anyone here ever tried Acorns? I signed up but won't put money into it since it seems like more of an advertisement service to get money to invest in ETFs, which I can do on my own. Am I missing something?

Is that where you round up on your purchases and the excess goes into an investment account? I haven’t tried it but sounds like an ok idea. Wouldn’t really expect too much out of it to be honest.
