That can go both fukking ways.
But the truth is, even if the chance is 0.00000001%
It is not a big ask to just kill the mother fukker quickly to decrease the suffering.
Not to me.
- When you grab a Lobster, that muhfukka tries to get away.
- When you throw it in a vat of boiling water it moves around frantically trying to get out.
If I have the ability to experience pain and I'm a carbon-based organism it's only logical to me that this other carbon-based organism that I just threw in boil hot water that is now flailing around frantically experiences pain as well. But that is not a Western philosophy where the Earth is all connected and we are one, which is why even the Scientist that don't agree that Lobsters DON'T feel pain have to caveat their statements with:
"No one can say for sure"
"It's hard to tell"
Anything short of the Lobster hopping out the pot and saying "It hurts" in Classical Latin will be met with skepticism.
So he specifically states that they don't have the system to feel pain.
Also what "science" do you think he's using? Is it eurocentric?
They lack the same system that HUMANS do but that doesn't mean they don't feel pain. It just means that they feel pain in another way...which is why they react just like humans do when they encounter something unpleasant.
