In Bomani’s case, he’s said multiple times he’s not really of that cloth. And recognizes that even with ESPN, he only says but o so much on ‘Black’ issues.
Bomani’s issue with Dieon was not that Dieon should be ‘Black, Black, Black’…..but don’t preach that type of rhetoric if you’re not in it for the long haul and willing to take licks.
Seems like Bomani doesn’t like when current sports figures (Lebron, Dieon) try to make it seem like they’re in the same ilk as former black sports figures (Ali, Russell, Kareem, John Thompson) that were more engaged in moving the needle. Which make sense when he specifically goes out of his way to say he’s not of that ilk/heart either.
