He made a promise and stood on it. I like this. In fact, I like it enough that I'm willing to entertain him and Harris for a Presidential run. They've shown themselves to be quite competent.

Here's the issue. If the documents are in fact a whole lot of nothing, then why make them confidential? Why not make them available to the Senators doing the questioning from the very beginning? At least for me, there doesn't need to be a smoking gun because Booker made his case quite clear. There's nothing in these documents that required or justified them being marked confidential or kept from being released to the public from the beginning. So I don't take this as Booker grandstanding. I take this as the Republicans trying to rush a nominee that is not as qualified as they want the American people to believe. That is telling enough.

On paper, Brett Kavanaugh is literally as qualified or more qualified than any other person in the United States to be on the Supreme Court. The issue is not with his qualifications; it's with the sheer size of his paper trail. Going through the normal channels to mark everything as committee confidential would take too long, so Republicans are running their own scammy document review to make sure Kavanaugh gets confirmed before the elections.

I understand why that's a problem, but if you're going to be dramatic and say, "I'm releasing these documents, and I don't care if you kick me out of the Senate" then you'd better have the goods. Booker doesn't.

Kavanaugh clearly doesn't respect civil rights and that's pretty small piece of the problem. I think that's a pretty big deal. Call me a SJW or whatever but yeah.

The goods are simply: These documents shouldn't be confidential. That's it. You're now putting an extra hurdle based on what you see as substantial. Which is your prerogative. But it's not necessary to this situation. So yeah, if Booker declares that he's gonna do the right thing and if that means you kick him out then "fine". Then I agree. It's not being dramatic, but rather more extreme because the situation has now become more extreme.
