@sjankis630 I can't reply to you cuz you replied in my quote :russ: but yeh--that book is FIRE. There's just so much I didn't know. The book gets a slog a bit towards the end when he gets into assembly and how all the logic gates are structured in different hardware, then switches to the internet to polish things off. Really really smartly structured book. I've got the Donald knuth the art of programming series on deck too.

Just finished reading Shards of Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold. It's the first book in the Vorkosigan Saga. I don't think it started slow but for whatever reason it took a bit for me to get into the story but after about 3 or 4 chapters I started getting into the flow of the story. Solid first entry, I think. I have the omnibus paperback that includes this along with the next chronological story, Barrayar, so I'll read that probably tonight

I just ordered 'Churchill: Walking with Destiny' by Andrew Roberts and 'How to Prove It: A Structured Approach' by Daniel Velleman which is about mathematical proofs. I'm really into physics and programming and while I did take calculus in high school and college I feel like I really half assed it and didn't realize how interesting math was until now. So I'm trying to bridge that knowledge gap. It will help me in programming and understanding physics better.

I'm still working my way through Philip and Alexander: Kings and Conquerors by Goldsworthy. But I do have ADHD so I like randomly jumping into more technical books that I have on programming and physics depending on the day of the week.

I ain't gon hold u, reading this all as 1 collective is a lot
full

Or maybe I've just been in a slump recently on the reading tip, Idk. Apt Pupil prolly still remains my favorite out of all the novellas. Todd losing the upper hand and watching da old decrepit fukk get disturbingly rejuvenated was something. The Body was interesting. I can see why King said this was his personal work ever. It reads like it, especially as it begins to unravel toward the end. The Breathing Method was like a tease somewhat to pocket dimensions & all that I know he expounds on in his other shyt, but it was a nice, "quiet" was to close everything. Seen SR already so that story ain't hit like me but it was good to see a few diff details.

Definitely going to read that this year but since I got Never Flinch in the mail yesterday I think I'll read Bill Hodges/Holly books next

Finished section Barrayar in the omnibus this morning. It pretty much picked up right after Shards of Honor. So much so that I wonder why Bujold waited to the seventh book to continue the story. It was a solid story that felt more like a fantasy book than science fiction but then again space operas are pretty much fantasy stories in sci-fi clothing. I look forward to reading the Miles books when I get back into the series

I initially was finna pre-order Never Flinch awhile back until I saw it was a Holly book lol

I still need to set aside time /clear books out of my queue to commit to reading that whole "series" including: Mr. Mercedes, Finders Keepers, End of Watch, The Outsider, If It Bleeds, and Holly. Funny enough, I've seen The Outsider & some of the Mr. Mercedes show on Peacock but haven't read the books yet. I be lettin' other mfs talk me out of it fr, plus I know that those 6-7 books will keep me from jumpin' around & reading anything else for the foreseeable future which I ain't ready for yet.

I was like that with the Dark Tower series with how much negativity I heard about how it ended. Read it last year and I flew through it and I love it from beginning to end.
I know the Hodges trilogy has some :mjpls: elements and the antagonist in one of the books says the n-word quite a bit but I'm prepared for that.
